"I'll look into the <description> element and should have a good ping solution soon. As for MediaRSS, if you include multiple media groups containing thumbnails with width and height small enough to fit multiple images, then they should display horizontally just like Flickr." - Paul Buchheit
So the problem with the <description> tag in RSS feeds is that it generally contains the full or partial content of the blog post. It would be useful to make this content available in friendfeed, but stuffing it into a comment probably isn't the right ui. - Paul Buchheit
So... don't stuff the text into the a comment. Just display the description indented under the title. I would only show the first N characters, and provide a link to read the rest of the text. Might as well use a comment, btw, and truncate. If you want the rest, click the link. The current situation is just wrong for all the reasons I outlined in my post. - Dave Winer
Doesn't that depend on the length of the post? April's blog, for example, generally contains posts with text appropriate for an initial comment. - Bruce Lewis
The problem is that the "description" is not really a description in most cases, it's the content, and automatically stuffing a prefix of all blog posts into the first comment may not be the best experience. I think perhaps the right solution is to provide a "generic rss" service that has options for all this. (and to provide a more elegant way of viewing the feed content inline) I completely agree with your objectives though -- all services should have equal access via feeds. - Paul Buchheit
Would love it if when I include images or videos in my WordPress posts they showed up in FriendFeed. Is there a trick to making that happen? - Patrick Lightbody
We already pick up on MediaRSS tags Patrick. If you do a search, there are several discussions of how to get it working with WordPress. - Paul Buchheit

“Any recomendations for wireless keyboard & mouse sets?”
6 hours ago - Link
I have had bad experiences with wireless keyboards. I bought a wireless set twice and ended up going back to a wired keyboard and wireless mouse. The delays are so perceptible to me with wireless keyboards for some reason. Now I have http://www.amazon.com/Microsof... for my keyboard and http://www.amazon.com/Microsof... for my mouse, and I am very happy. - Bret Taylor
I have had a logitech for years and it is great. - Sheila Taylor
I'm using this for almost a year: http://www.logitech.com/index.... I've used Microsoft sets, Logitech sets and some other brands but I think Logitech is the best. - Eren Emre Kanal
I'd also recommend logitech... my last wireless keyboard/mouse set lasted me about 8 years. Now I have their rechargable wireless laser mouse and am very happy with it. - Shannon Jiménez via fftogo
Thanks! I hooked a computer up to my TV the other day and I find that my wired keyboard is just a little too prohibitive for the living room... looks like I'll be shopping for something logitech :) - Ross Miller

"Bryant said the issue of bicycles on city sidewalks was "next on her list."" - Kevin Fox via Bookmarklet
It seems like bicycles on sidewalks is much more dangerous than Segways. Can't they just put a speed limit on Segways? - Cyrus Lendvay
People fear what they don't understand. And of course there are many places in MV where bicycles are safer on the empty sidewalks than they are in the busy and narrow roads. - Kevin Fox
Yay! It's not the danger that's the problem, it's that they are so f*cking goofy! - Chris White
Better policy needs to be developed for all "not car" transpo. Skateboards, rollerskates, kick scooters, etc are all more ecological ways of getting places but our current urban planning doesn't allow for them. The vehicle codes rarely cover them specifically. - Spidra Webster
Does anyone know what MV's electric skateboard policy is? I've been wondering if I'll get a ticket for riding there with one. - Chris White
Link dead, Kev -- got a new one? - Paul Wilcox

Also doesn't work for me. - Cyrus Lendvay
Try to use this link: http://www.mercurynews.com/bre... I think mercurynews has got some kind of link prototection or something. I had same problem, but its ok after trying the link without querystrings. - Eren Emre Kanal
Another choice quote from someone who apparently hasn't seen a wheelchiar: Council Member Ronit Bryant, who helped draft the new rules, said she had trouble understanding how the state could place Segways under the pedestrian designation. "It has wheels, it's not a pedestrian," she said. "I have two feet, I am." What if you have only one foot? What if your walker has wheels? Sure a Segway isn't a wheelchair but it's dumb to cast the issue in a 'walk on two legs - good' 'walk on >< 2 legs - bad' frame. - Kevin Fox
They should add a lane in the street for Segways. So, it should go; Cars | Bikes | Segways | Unicycles | Rollerskates | Heelys - Matt Musgrave
Matt, it should be Cars | Bikes | Skateboards, all other uncool transportation is banned, including Segways, Unicycles, Rollerskates, Heelys, and Razor scooters. - Chris White
"all other uncool transportation is banned" - Then what do you plan to do about all the Dodge Dart, AMC Pacer, and Ford Pinto drivers? ;) - John Craft
John, ban them of course. :) - Chris White
