Steven - This is going to be so great. I really think we're looking at a chapter in the future of schooling here ... and much more. (My wife still wants Pluto back ?!) - Charlie Anzman
FCC gives the go for the two US satellite radio providers to merge - Charlie Anzman
Neither company is doing really well now. Both are bleeding capital. A combination of the two may cut costs somewhat but I wouldn't bet on it. - Morton Fox
It's not a very good marriage on any level. The programming duplication happens to be the stuff that doesn't cost much money. Their delivery systems are different. And so, I'm told, are their cultures. - Chris Baskind
"Rob - I don't these this happening other than the selective importing and commenting we're seeing on Friendfeed (and any similar services that may follow). Presumably most of these services were set-up to either monetize and / or integrate commercially (or be sold). They will have the option of limiting any interaction as we've seen in the past with AIM and other chat-type services. Clients (like Twhirl) will continue to be developed, with services such as Friendfeed acting as the catch all. Any further interaction is highly unlikely. Great to see you posting to Louis' blog!" - Charlie Anzman
I wonder what 'legal agreements' microsoft had with the very large number of users who took part in their study? Did they inform them up-front that they were part of an experiment or was the agreement a line item in some EULA for IE saying 'we may collect anonymous data to improve the user experience' or somesuch. - Robin Barooah
and? She's not 'Danny Sullivan's wife' she's Lorna Harris - Ivan Pope via twhirl
Ivan - absolutely no intention to hype a headline (If you've been reading me, you know that). Human Interest. Period. No interaction with either of them .. plus I liked it!. Take a look at Danny's personal site. It's right there. http://daggle.com/080617-14320.... FREE plug? - Charlie Anzman
Very personal, very important piece life story from Candace. - Charlie Anzman
Thank you very much. I've already found out posting this helped one person and you know what? If I only had one page view on that post...just one...but that page view was the one person who needed to read it, I'm happy. - Candace Holly
Candace - Agree and that's why I asked you if I should share it. 1 person is better than none. Thanks for your sharing - Charlie Anzman
YES! Cool idea! too bad it won't grab all of our followers / follows - Susan Beebe
How might such a script decide if a person on Twitter is the same person on identi.ca? - Rahsheen Porter
@Rahsheen Porter username is about the only way. i don't think you can grab emails from their API's - Chris Harris
Rahsheen - InternetDuctTape already has a Twitter to Friendfeed import program. I used it several months ago. Had a little overload to clean up but overall it was GREAT - Charlie Anzman
I would have thought Hutch Carpenter and Louis Gray would have had this covered already. Where's Pat Hawks ?? - Charlie Anzman
Peter Troast takes his dog for a microchip. Surprisingly cheap (Inexpensive too). Everyone should do this. Even though the video was shot for the company he works for, it's got a lot of info that every dog owner should know. - Charlie Anzman
Love the dog. The human, well....I'm not this goofy in person. Thanks Charlie. Microchipping is important and I'm unaware of any other video on the internet that shows the process from start to finish. It's why we created it and, despite the acting, it shows the whole process, including the injection of the chip itself. - Peter Troast
Peter .. I'm discovering more of your stuff every day. Glad we connected. Hope this helps?! Had NO IDEA they were that inexpensive and almost everyone has the scanners .... Still thinkin' DOG but thinkin' move first :) - Charlie Anzman
"Technically, there is no SEO play. Wikipedia started using nofollow a while back, and according to Danny Sullivan (Search Engine Land), Google is saying that no SEO weight will be given to Knol (which also uses the no follow on links)" - Charlie Anzman
you are funny. yes! at least til the afternoon outage - Peter Troast
For the first time (at least for me), I am thinking ,,, bye, bye Twitter. This latest chapter is too much - Charlie Anzman
I think it's the last straw for a lot of people. - Akiva Moskovitz
I've pretty much had it with Twitter. After reading the "get satisfaction"thread and the promises to fix this over 14 hours ago I'm not sure I trust them at all anymore. My problems are still there.I'm barely following anyone at all anymore (29 people) and, I had some pretty cool people on Twitter I was talking to. - Candace Holly
Seriously this just shows how some of you are so dependent, actually kind of pathetic but I understand the frustration. Oh know I lost my followers! I'm no longer cool on the social site scene... - orionstarr
Well tootems..it's sweet of you to say that and all but you see, some of us have company Twitter accounts to keep our community updated. When the company's Twitter account suddenly unfollows everyone, and ends up auto following a bunch of strange people...someone has to go in and manually fix that. Plus, you have to try and figure out who in your community got removed and find them again. Sometimes it's not about the e-peen. - Candace Holly
"Honestly wasn't part of the equation. There are many start-ups that begin within their own country and then take the product international. It is an interesting point. Thanks." - Charlie Anzman
Wikipedia has an entry on Knol, but Knol does not have an entry on Wikipedia (-; - Alexei Tolkachev
Mona - The first time the blog made TechMeMe (last year), I thought I was gonna ... well you know. Back then it was twitter and a lot of people chimed in with congrats ... Since then, a few headlines and lots of 'Discussion' mentions. The 'we' might be a little more accurate here: http://pixelbits.wordpress.com... , unless of course you're ready to do the first humor/satire/genius guest post??? Offer: A cool title and keys to the exec washroom! So? - Charlie Anzman
Works for me. In fact if it's really you, I can almost guarantee a viral (with no royalties) ! - Charlie Anzman
Charlie, are you serious?? I thought you were teasing.. wow I'm honored! - Mona N
Totally serious. You be the first guest appearance (other than a few ghost writers here and there). - Charlie Anzman
Let's go DM. Oh, I forgot. We don't have that yet .... - Charlie Anzman
LOL!! Thank you so much for the offer! But I'm still finding my voice, and my tone.. I'm not 100% happy with my blog and posts yet =\ Would it be too much to ask to wait until I'm comfortable (and happy) with my writing style? Facebook message me! ;) - Mona N
Like I tell my wife all the time ... I can wait. - Charlie Anzman
check out my blog post www.annehaynes.com - Anne Haynes
Anne - Interesting (possibly troubling). I haven't gone through the entire process yet but expect to shortly. I do have 2 friends contributing their own stuff (non-SEO) tonight ... so we'll see? Glitch? - Charlie Anzman
You got this total deer in headlights expression. I think we should caption that. - Candace Holly
Mona - Know what you were asking .. Candace - Live 1 AM. Kinda thinkin "Charlie TV" (No ego here) - Charlie Anzman
@Charlie - Well..I was thinking more of a lolcat style caption. Yeap, I was about to macro you. - Candace Holly
Perfect caption. Now..look at the picture and then think these words "I sense a disturbance in the force." ..Eh? ~_^ - Candace Holly
Mona - Microsoft Lifecam. Candace - Whatever .. "Photoshop this?" :) - Charlie Anzman
...Ohh you don't want me photoshopping anything. You see, as much as a geek as I am..when I touch most computer programs I break things. This is why I am not allowed to ever ever ever touch the back-end of the TGM website. I crashed the site once by clicking a button. - Candace Holly
I just posted a "I love this" speaking of it. - Robert Scoble
Scoble non-sequitur . why didn't you install Disqus yet? It wouldn't let you handle the comments through the WP iPhone interface, but you could handle comments remotely via e-mail. - Robert Seidman
I'm not sure I see the problem. It's basically an update to what's already in Vista. - Jordan Hofker
Right, I clicked through to the article and definitely don't mean to contest your point. I didn't realize that Recommended updates were automatically checked. That's about as sneaky a choice of delivery as Apple trying to slide Safari into everyone's PCs a few months back. - Akiva Moskovitz
This is an update to a program that's included in a base install of Vista. It's not at all like installing a new program like Safari. If it was a new program, you'd know it because Microsoft would make you read and accept a new EULA. ;-) - Jon Galloway
@akiva: Except iWrong. Which would be right... damn, now I confused myself. - Joni Moilanen
I agree with the above commenters; this is a valuable enhancement to the built-in Vista search functionality. Not a conspiracy theory ;-) - Paul Whitaker
Just an upgrade to what is already there. Provided it doesn't automatically turn itself on when I have indexing off, then I'm fine with the automatic download. I hate the "search for your files" shift, it's nice that the searching gets faster, but people use it as an excuse to never maintain their file system. Then Vista makes it even harder to maintain because of UAC. Same with the start menu, I love the search, but hate that they killed the floating menus. - xero
Looks good. The first month will be the easiest. I promise. Looking forward to your B list next month! - Louis Gray
Louis - There's 70 on this list. The question is ... will it change next month? :) - Charlie Anzman
I'm enjoying brightkite atm. A location based microblogging service. I'm intrigued by identi.ca and as always Loics' seesmic. Not too sure about the adoption of video comments alongside the standard text responses. seesmic has a place though ! disqus integration is a clear win there. Ya think FF comments could be relayed back to original posts via disqus in time ? ah comment separation is going to become an issue there me'thinks. - David Smith
Thanks for the mention, Charlie. Formidable company. - Peter Troast
David - Robert Scoble has a pretty length thread goin' on about comment clustering here http://friendfeed.com/e/6c25a3... Peter - great chatting last week. You guys are totally cool :) - Charlie Anzman
Nice list. I personally prefer Redfin to Zillow myself. And ZipRealty has been rapidly and iteratively improving as well. - AJ Kohn
AJ - Both pretty lame in rural areas? Good secret next! - Charlie Anzman
Most US Counties have their GIS online. Just search the county, state with GIS. More info than you need on a specific property. Amazing how many Real Estate agents don't know this - Charlie Anzman
I feel overwhelmed by some of these lists and services ...where is the time to check them all out? Is it just me? - kamla bhatt
look out! man -- it's rough living on the gulf - Shey
Not there Shey but those in Southern Texas really should be watching. Radar now showing a defined eyewall, and Dolly's moving along at a pretty good clip! http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ - Charlie Anzman
I was raised on the Gulf Coast so I've been through a dozen or so hurricanes. Although I miss the thrill of it such as tracking the hurricane, making sure I'm awake during landfall (which always seemed to happen around dawn) to listen to shortwave broadcasts, 'standing' in 120mph rain (it hurts far more than you think it would), I'm glad to be done with it. I stayed up all night during Hurricane Rita because it pretty much hit where my mother still lives. It was stressful. - Akiva Moskovitz
I was hit by Rita, too, and it was scary. It was scarier to be without power for 2 weeks, LOL. I like hurricane weather , living on the Gulf Coast and tracking the storms, but always breathe a sigh of relief when we don't get a direct hit. - Trish Robinson
Trish, I hear ya. At least it's something you can track. Up here, we have the ever-present earthquake threat and you know how much warning we get? 0.0 seconds. - Akiva Moskovitz
