“Sometimes I'm afraid to write. I'm not afraid that people won't like it or they'll mock it. I'm afraid it'll be good and people will really like it. I think the fact that I'm afraid I'll write something really good means I have a huge, bloated ego.”

we want you to write and your ego is not bloated! - Michael J. Cohen (mjc)
It feels that way. Like by being afraid I'm thinking "Oh, Nine, your creative prowess is so strong and amazing that people will be overwhelmed and so deeply moved! Your books will be regarded as life-changing!" ... I think what I'm REALLY thinking is "Oh god, don't let people like this because I don't want the attention." - Nine
what's the worst thing attention can bring you? From one post. - Michael J. Cohen (mjc)
Somebody will /always/ mock it. Learn to deal with that before you get huge ;) - Michael W. May
I don't mean posts... I mean actual books. And I >welcome< the mocking! The first two things I sold are cheesy vampire romance novels (cheesy modifying the vampire, the romance, and the novel). I want to do something a little more mainstream and I keep going "No, stick to the cheese." - Nine
Does the cheese pay your bills? Or is that a side gig? - Yolanda
At this point, it's just a side gig. tech writing pays the bills. - Nine
I totally get what you mean, dude. - The Bohemian Penguin
only if you get a lot of likey's - Charlie Anzman
i still say what i want and i kill threads a lot... cuz of that, but the people that have gone to know me and love me for who i am know were I'm coming from and it's ultimately a great place with lots of love - Caroline
Having people really like your work is a high quality problem. - Denton Gentry
Embrace your ego! I think you have to be a little conceited to be a writer--if LKH can make millions, it's pretty hard /not/ to be conceited when your story was one of the best things I've read all year. - eve shot first
