Why not RTF? I still use RTF when sending very basic text documents to people because I know it will everywhere. - Jake (aka Jawee)
RTF is barely readable in the terminal. If my only computer has severe problems, and I'm stuck in a terminal, I would like to be able to read files that might help me debug the problem. In less extreme computing environments, RTF is great if basic formatting is necessary. HTML, assuming it is written cleanly, can be read in extreme environments with a lot more ease. - possible248
