Greasemetal is a userscript runtime for Google Chrome. The runtime hosts userscripts (tiny javascript files that modify the webpages being displayed) to be executed on Google Chrome, similar to what Greasemonkey does for Mozilla Firefox, or Greasekit does for Safari. - Morton Fox

"EVeryone is asleep Louis, including you... I have been partying so I will be wise and keep my dialogue to a minimum. This is easy since I largely agree with everything. Thank you for verbalising much of what we have discussed (sometimes passionately) what we don't like and do like about FF. Cheers" - Roger Kondrat

Bluetooth I don't care about (frankly) but GTalk? Really? - Mona N. via Bookmarklet
i'm getting one pre-order from tmobile in Sept 17! - Pokai
i KNEW it!! I'm still deciding between Dream and the iPhone... Premature 1st gen OS or Premature 2nd gen OS... hmmmm decisions, decisions ;) - Mona N.
got to say that I wanted to keep the bluetooth. Got a great bluetooth keyboard that I would love to use with the Android phone (when it comes out). - James Fridley
But isn't it (Bluetooth) a battery drainer, James? - Mona N.
yes an no, currently I still use my Dell x51v for conferences and if I have to take a charger with me. Much smaller impact than taking a full laptop. Really hope to do that same function with the next device I buy so bluetooth is important. My guess would be that it would drain less than say GPS would... - James Fridley
If they squeezed A2DP in there they'd be a serious step ahead of Apple. I use a Jabra BT620S stereo Bluetooth headset and the fact I need a dongle to listen to music on my iPhone even though it has Bluetooth built in still kills me. - Brooks Bishop
James: What I don't understand is, Android and iPhones are supposed to be 'smart phones' and targeted towards business users. Yet the hardware, default software, and ESPECIALLY battery life are utterly useless... It's SO baffling to me :| Would you even use GPS on your Android handset? - Mona N.
Brooks: You listen to music on your iPhone?! =O That's like battery drainage #1, no? @Matt: rofl! - Mona N.
@James GPS is only receive though. - klecu
Bluetooth keyboard support would be nice too. - Rodfather
klecu: what do you mean by 'only receive'? @Rodfather: really? i like touchscreen... my iPhone typing is ridiculously fast haha - Mona N.
It would be nice to have the option. A plain serial device support would also let you use a bluetooth GPS receiver too if you want a better signal. Using a Bluetooth keyboard would be nice if you need a real keyboard in case you need to make a blog post. This keyboard is great. It folds up to be fairly compact. Too bad it's not made anymore. http://www.amazon.com/iGO-Stow... - Rodfather
Matt: GTalk is the kicker for me :| @Rodfather: I used to have one of those for my Palm ;) @Matt: There are already location based Social Networking sites integrated with GPS in beta. The one that interests me most, is a consumer review site like Yelp, that has geo tagging. Pretty neat :) - Mona N.
while battery life is certainly an issue, using my crystal ball I would expect that battery tech and power generation (or even wireless charging) will be a sooner than later conversation. This would make both bluetooth and gps possible. Maybe I am just dreaming.... - James Fridley
I guess when it comes to it, maybe I am after the wrong thing. Maybe I just need a UMPC that I can add a sim chip to? - James Fridley
OMG James, wireless charging = best. idea. EVER and ixnay on the umpc... Apple's tablet FTW! @Matt: I'm not a fan Yelp (SF), since it grew too large and now needs to be taken with a grain of salt :( They've also been caught taking bribes... yikes. Though I'm not a fan of location based Social Sites, Yellowpages is what's appealing to me the most. Wow, I can't believe how exciting technology is, seriously. - Mona N.
The Fujitsu U810 has been great for me for both work and home. These days it's all about <$500 netbooks though. - Rodfather
Drops BT? That sucks bc of the "law" out here in CA. - Brandon
perhaps it makes sense to only have wifi ... bt is not cheap, open (anyone know who gets most of the royalties in the bt patent pool?) & is not secure in a cost effective way ... alternative & related issue - comparing USB to say FW not just 1394 (for example) - Wes Schadenfreud
The article says the bluetooth API won't be available to developers in the first release, but will be in a future release. But BT headsets will work. Anyone using OpenMoko? - Barron Fujimoto
Standard devices like BT headsets will still work. Android still contains a Bluetooh stack, but only BT device drivers supplied as part of the base platform will be allowed in the first release. - Denton Gentry

I'm talking about the highlights for Cleaner FF.. your Better FriendFeed Beta seems to be working fine.. that doesn't highlight, does it? - Tim Hoeck
Rah: I'm using yours :) - Mona N.
no highlights :(? - Naor
Better FriendFeed does in fact "include" Cleaner FF features. Access the options panel in Tools->GreaseMonkey->User Script Commands->Better Beta FriendFeed - ♫ Rahsheen ™ ★
checking it out....thanks! - Susan Beebe (Santa Claus)

just noticed that when I add someone to a list, I lose the ability to hide them. Not sure if that is a better friendfeed script or read later script... - James Fridley
Hrm...If you're using the Better FriendFeed script to change what's displayed for the word Like then it's possible. Read Later also plays with the same list. Both scripts are pretty careful about what they modify, but it's a possibility. - ♫ Rahsheen ™ ★

“I'm starting to rethink some of my subscriptions here on FF. I want less tech and more stuff like I got at Gnomedex this weekend. If I unfollow/unsubscribe from you, it's nothing personal. Really.”
August 25 at 12:17 am - Link
http://www.globalvoicesonline.... is a good place to start for broadening your horizons. I am following 3,000 and I share anything "Gnomedexy." I just don't see that much coming through the system here. - Robert Scoble
and by less tech, I really mean less about social media, web2.0, betas, etc. and more about the topics and subject areas that are of interest to me. I just don't know if there are many people on socnets I frequent with the subject matter I'm really most interested in. Should be a fun experiment though. - Brian Daniel Eisenberg
i also try to have a rather balanced mixture of subs, including biz, tech, VC, politics, and of course Mona :) - Hayk
Thanks for the link Robert! I'll definitely check it out. - Brian Daniel Eisenberg
I see a TON of noise here. But I only like or comment on stuff that interests me. So, if you're only following me you'll probably get 90% tech stuff. If you want less tech, you can hide more stuff from me. - Robert Scoble
It's kind of refreshing to unfollow/unsub. Also hiding certain services that I don't particularly like seeing in my river of noise here on FF. Anyone that double taps their tweets or similar services, I unsub and maybe even block. I hate seeing repetition. Where are those pesky semantic noise filters? Maybe that's what FF has been working on. Notice that the noise from FF employees here has gone down a bit recently. Interesting. New features coming soon? I hope so! - Brian Daniel Eisenberg
Brian, wasn't Gnomedex incredible? I live streamed the entire thing, and felt the energy through the stream :) It's all about utilizing the tools we have to make some kind, any kind of difference, and as cheesy as it sounds, spreading positivity. That's why I love FriendFeed. - Mona N.
Brian: yeah, me too. They are busy on the new backend. Can't wait to see what they do. I'm sure Mona or Louis will find it first, though. I'm off this week to play with consumer electronics. :-) - Robert Scoble
Brian, I personally use popurls.com and polymeme.com along with netvibes, where I read RSS from tech ,biz and other news sites and blogs. - Hayk
Mona - words cannot describe the vibe and energy in that conference room. Send shivers down my spine! I think it's awesome that folks who were not able to attend were able to pick up on some of the magic that happened there. - Brian Daniel Eisenberg
I have been able to keep my subscriptions slim, but what is killing me is the friend of friend posts that are now contributing a significantly larger amount of noise than I saw just a month or two ago. I really wish FF would add better filtering. I really don't want to turn off the friend of friend posts because I often find really interesting stuff I would have never seen, but it is getting out of hand. - Jeff P. Henderson
I totally felt it through the live stream, Brian. I can only imagine what it was like, being there :) I'm still kicking myself for missing it... Let's keep this energy going! - Mona N.
I hope I make the cut. :) - l0ckergn0me
Jeff: what kinds of things are noisy to you? - Robert Scoble
Brian: Can you give us poor non-attendees a rundown on the "stuff" you got at Gnomedex? I'm from the nether regions of the world (kangaroo land), so miss out on a lot of cool stuff. Well, until I can buy my own jetplane or something. - Stu Andrews via twhirl
@Chrispirillo - can you drop the URL or tell Stu / everyone where the videos from the conference will be posted? - Brian Daniel Eisenberg
Brian: Was being 1 part lazy (just googled to the gnomedex site), but also was interested in your opinions of what was the stuff you prefer instead of tech. - Stu Andrews via twhirl
My favorite was the guy who drives the Mars Landers. - Robert Scoble
Scott Maxwell: "If it doesn't look impossible, we're not interested" - Mona N.
Stu - Mars Rover Driver definitely my favorite, mostly because I've followed each and every mission since they started doing them. I also really just enjoyed interacting and mingling with such a great group of attendees. That was probably the best part of the conference for me. When I'm not so exhausted, I'll post all my pics, vids, and weave it together into a post on my site. Oh - I also really liked the BugLabs presentation. Open source HW FTW! - Brian Daniel Eisenberg
Brian: Thanks! Appreciate your opinions. Look forward to the stuff you'll post later. - Stu Andrews via twhirl
Brian, I have a folder full of bookmarks linking to friendfeeders I feel I ought to subscribe to, but don't have room for. I probably spend more time now looking through those individual streams than I do on my own feed. - Slippy Lane

This is the episode where Leo ditches twitter for identica - Christian Burns
More precisely - ditches Twitter, Jaiku, Pownce, Rejaws, Plurk, and Identi.ca for my own microblog: http://army.twit.tv. It's a little rough around the edges but I really want to throw my support to open source microblogging. Why should we tweet into proprietary silos? I'll still cross post to Twitter and other sites, but my heart belongs to the TWiT Army. - Leo Laporte
How is TWiT Army not just another silo? - todd
todd: by using laconica it's supposed to be federated (I'm guessing) - Andre
leo: will you be using ma.gnolia2 too? I really hope more and more web apps will embrace this road - Andre
Unfortunately http://openmicroblogging.org/ is showing "It works!" so it's hard to get details on how it works. Building a performant federated system is a big challenge, interesting to see how it goes. By no silo does that mean you'll set up your own instance so the data is stored in your own database? Otherwise your data is still in someone else's system and it's controlled by a program you need to install. - todd
