Thanks for sharing; now i need to get the mp3. Anyone recommend a particular recording of this piece? (preferably available at Amazon's mp3 store) :) - Dan Hsiao
That's a nice photo. - niniane
Thanks Jim - this is one of my favorite pieces. Nice photo too. - Jack Norris
I'd highly recommend the Yo-Yo Ma rendition. It's a faster tempo but absolutely beautiful: http://www.amazon.com/gp/produ... - Kevin Fox
Definitely checkout Yo-Yo Ma's rendition. It's always at the top of my "Top 25 Most Played" iTunes playlist. - Benjamin Golub
Janos Starker's performance is so much better than Yo-Yo Ma's, if you ask me. Starker tends to be more emotional where as Ma always sounded to be a bit sterile. Also, Ma only recently began playing it properly with the double-stops. - Akiva Moskovitz

I love how the woman asks, with a straight face, whether or not Obama is a Marxist. Awesome. What channel is this? - Rob Schonberger
she asks a bunch of times and is never given a straight answer... Biden didn't stand up for Palin when ABC and CBS did it to her - Ⓝ〄ⒶⒽ ⒹⒶⓋⒾⒹ ⓈⒾⓂ〄Ⓝ
some crappy Florida channel - j1m
I thought Biden handled himself very well: he gave solid responses to some pretty silly questions. - Jack Norris
I love his answer "are you joking?" Noah: Biden says its an absurd comparison, which seems to be denying that Obama is a Marxist to me. - Larry Greenfield
She really is just reading the McCain talking points off a card. :-) - j1m
man lefties get pissed when the shoe I'd on the other foot - Robert Hafer
I thought this was hilarious, it looks like something you'd see on the Colbert Report. (It was on some local TV station in Florida.) It's also amusing to hear some conservatives compare this to Palin's interviews—sorry, I just don't quite see it. - Jim Norris

Within a week I expect to find this in my inbox, unattributed, as an e-mail forward from one of my paranoid right-wing relatives. "One recent afternoon a line formed on the sidewalk outside the school. Dozens of people were waiting for impromptu private therapy sessions, on a leopard-spotted chaise longue, with David Gale, an actor who described himself as a "nonpsychotherapist." Strangers revealed their secrets to him anyway. It may all sound like a big metaprank, but the school is perfectly sincere. The ambition is to offer a road map to a fuller life - secular and interior, not religious - toward which end a sense of humor helps." - Jessie via Bookmarklet

"While the older and much better established Darwin had undoubtedly been thinking about evolution and collecting voluminous data, up to that moment he had not published a single word on the subject. Wallace, on the other hand, had written several papers on evolution prior to the Ternate Paper, including the 1855 Sarawak Law, which stated the now obvious principle that "Every species has come into existence coincident both in space and time with a pre-existing closely allied species." Did Darwin plagiarize Wallace?" - Jessie via Bookmarklet

"It should come as no surprise that the thing about saving the environment that politicians and companies like the most involves more spending and new industries. Wonder what FF would look like if it was a big company product. Would it be like http://google.com/s2/sharing/s... where people, Schrödinger style, don't know if the site is dead or alive? Friendfeed is a living site and people feel that. I don't even think the idea of pulling in a couple of feeds from different places is all that revolutionary; it's the specific approach applied here, including the implementation cycles, and implementation quality (based on technical, design and communities knowledge, and loads of common sense), which makes it different. Well, Paul said it all here: http://paulbuchheit.blogspot.c... - Philipp Lenssen
I think I'm gradually turning FF into what it would look like it it was a big company product: http://internetducttape.com/20... - engtech
@engtech: I stopped visiting Techmeme because of FF... so I figured I'd come up with... FF Tab control. http://ffapps.com/tabs/ - Aviv
Possibilities are endless here.. Of course it'd be far better if FF enabled us to play using a legitimate API :) - Aviv

From your humble author .... Had an unbelievable spike from this piece so far today. A little surprising on the Feedburner numbers. TechMeMe numbers expected. Hacker News delivering almost as many ?! Think I (we?) just learned something. Charlie - Charlie Anzman
@Charlie, you're doing well. Even before today, your RSS subscribers were up 129% in the last three months! (Trust me, that's very good) Anybody not subscribed to Charlie should go do it now. And @Amit, if only that were the case. We all know FriendFeed is doing very well on their own merits. - Louis Gray

I'm a strong Microsoft user, supporter, and one-time reseller. It boggles my mind that they're hell bent on Yahoo. They could probably have CNET, Arrington,(Fast Company?) and half the blogosphere for 1 % of the purchase price ... or less???
