“checked out what all the hype about TiT was (teensintech.com) made a blog, saw that all it was just a WPMU upload with no real valuable content....and i deleted it. dissapointed, was expecting more.”
Precisely those reasons, I imagine... :( - tehKenny
@Jason I was when I posted that, but have cooled down now. Still very cynical about any attempt of schools to use technology, though. - Mohomed=genieyclo
“Mohomed the crappy thing about searchin on google for ans to qs on hosts is that u only get results of comm sites coz they got SEO down real good ;.)”
“this is getting f*cking ridiculous, I found another MAJOR vulnerbility in our school's Blackboard system and other online services it pays for...idiots. Know what? This time I'm not telling them. Let the random black-hat guy come and infect them with that killer worm that harvests everyone's...”
Does anyone know of a secure educational platform that schools can use that isn't shitty as hell, and doesn't have the design of a site from 1996? - Mohomed=genieyclo
Don't hold back here. Tell us how you REALLY feel. - Ladybug Heather
Blackboard's major competitor is Desire2Learn -- Moodle is the major open source player in this field. - Brian Sullivan
do you have the saved pdf gen? its been taken down and i dont feel like taking a copy of the page from the site.. - Carlos Ayala
@Ladybug: FUCKING PISSED. I'm not holding back how I feel, I'm holding back on telling them about this. This is not the first time I have found a major security flaw in our school's tech systems. Last time I told them about something like this they "patched" it. Bullshit, all they did was take away a form that could be exploited to show all the documents of everyone in the district, and they hushed me up by telling me thanks, and giving me 2 cheap McDonald's giftcards worth $2 each. - Mohomed=genieyclo
You're welcome. Just don't get yourself arrested ;) - Mohomed=genieyclo
Nah...a colleague is heading up an implementation of BB, I'm passing this on. - Carlos Ayala
Cool, links, blog posts, etc? FF, perhaps? If not, don't forget to tell him/her to pass it along when they're done. - Mohomed=genieyclo
Moodle is awful from users end, bad navigational model, all to easy to make non accessible code, wide open to all sorts of layout abuse etc.... it does do what its meant to but it ends up being used for everything else to! - Dave Pook
"I know there is a God because in Rwanda I shook hands with the devil. I have seen him, I have smelled him and I have touched him. I know the devil exists, and therefore I know there is a God." - Mohomed=genieyclo
“Don't you just hate it when blogs ry to promote themselves and say to sub to their RSS feed to win a prize? Tech blog readers aren't fooled, but readers of blogs like the GeekMommy are, and it pisses me off that bloggers like her aren't on the up-and-front with their readers...(to be cont.)”
thanks for the tip. i rarely do anything for prizes. i grew up with the phrase "nothing is ever free", but it's obvious that i'm no techie and am learning a lot from everyone on ff. - Trish Haley
or subscribe to their e-mail newsletter, bake their mom a cake and throw your leg behind your head, etc. i know what you mean - Cee Bee
I'd leave a comment to be entered for a prize but won't sub to a newsletter or RSS unless I actually want to sub anyway. - Rochelle
I'm not saying don't go for the prize, hell, I'd do it, I just know she probably won't give it to me now that I put that comment on her blog ;) , It's just that bull like this should be transparent, like other bloggers who ask for the same thing do....then again, you could argue their readers already know you can't track who sub'd and who didn't, but that's not the point. - Mohomed=genieyclo
