For the geeks in the room: this label was generated via a web application that takes the photo and it's information + the flavor and it's information that is put into a CSV database (each row is one label to be printed). The printer driver software then takes the database and squirts the images and all the text into the designated slots specified in an EPS file. From the end user perspective, I just go to the web page and create a print order (ie: 6 labels for Cheese & Apple using this photo) and it streams down a zip file with all of the necessary files bundled up to run a print job. Unfortunately, I can't reliably automate processing the bundle. - Paul Reynolds
Oh, and the printer prints out the label and then makes the cuts (the label outline and the window in the middle. - Paul Reynolds
"I like coffee so much that I have tea for breakfast: The first cup of the day in particular is so good that I’m afraid I won’t be able to properly appreciate it when I am half-asleep. Therefore, I celebrate it two hours later when I am fully conscious." - RAPatton
the pictures I liked best somehow has was not included - RAPatton
“Just listened to the Author on Tour with Neal Stephenson reading from ANATHEM. I've liked a number of books by Stephenson but reading the first few pages of this book did not sell me on it. It was boring beyond boring.”
last few same for me, as he's matured he's become cumbersome to read/like - to bad really since he was so awesome earlier in his career - mike "glemak" dunn
that said, the guy has certainly promoted himself today! all publicity is good publicity, no? - Sean
Sean, publicity is generally a good thing, but he is being positioned as an idiot. That is when the "all pub is good pub" thing falls down. "Bad pub" can be turned into good pub, like what the Ford CEO is doing. In the social media world, being called out as an idiot will rarely lead to good prospects. - Rob Diana
Except that his clients very likely don't know much about social media and just see the headline figures. Of course, if the idiot tag leaks into his google search results, that's another matter :) - Sean
Episode was great, not as funny as first, but the story is really getting going! :) Some lines hard to make out though, that bit where Zaboo mentions his joystick is not only hard to understand, but the censorship beep totally increases my rage! ;) - Robert Kloosterhuis
via twhirl
Really loved the second episode. You're a strong writer. - eratus
Man, the censor beep stuff is really irritating. Can't wait until I can watch this stuff without the beeps. I went back and rewatched Season 1 last night on The Guild website and it was aggravating (but I totally understand why it had to be done). Thank goodness I have the DVD! Can't wait for season 2 on disc. The Guild is just too much fun. :) - Amanda H.
Yeah will the DVD for season 2 be uncensored? It really kind of does kill the joke and make things hard to understand. I still enjoyed it though, trying to offer constructive criticism ;-P - Mabase
Of course it will be uncensored on the DVD. We have tons of filthy outtakes as well. I do agree that the bleeping ruins some jokes, and would argue that they didn't need to bleep "Hard" in the "hard as an old-school joystick" line, it ruined the joke :( Well, you can only get so much. Thanks for watching all, glad you enjoyed it! :) - Felicia
Yay for filthy outtakes! :) I think that was just the cherry on top for Season 1 DVD...getting to see all the outtakes. Can't wait for this season's batch! Thank you for putting out a mighty fine series. - Amanda H.
Thanks for the reply Felicia ^_^. It means a lot that you care about us nitpicking a show that we're all just lucky to have. I think you've talked me into buying another DVD though =P On another note I just got a email from Amazon saying that my Dr. Horrible DVD shipping got pushed back to Dec 26th. Ah well, can't win them all =) - Mabase
Why do we have to specify the service that the feed belongs? FF should recognise the service automatically. Also I agree that actual blog feeds should be separated from unsupported ones and something has to be done about the icons. - endiaferon
This incredibly cool hobbit-like house was handbuilt for just $5,000. Make your own with minimal tools. Some assembly required. - Chris Baskind

I can see that as a weekend cabin maybe... but not a primary residence. Unless it was built for considerably more than $5,000 and included basics like electricity and plumbing and better weatherproofing. - Jeremy Brooks
Actually "I don't like"....but I like the discussions around the topic. the heading could be interpreted as no new cash for start-ups [ the subject matter of the article ] - or - no new cash for VC's [ or the funds ]. I am seeing some early signs of defaults on draw-downs, mostly for Private equity funds. could be that some of the VC funds are experiencing a "cash crunch". - SnakeDoc

When I first heard the fifth season version of the title song, I didn't much like it but it has seriously grown on me. Definitely not my favorite but I like it now. - Akiva Moskovitz

Haven't gotten that far yet! Election hasn't happened yet. - Akiva Moskovitz
every version is great Akiva. this is the only time that ive ever seen this accomplished in a show. it seems like Weeds is trying to follow suit. - Carlos Ayala
liked all 5 seasons and title songs - ending was acceptable too :) - mike "glemak" dunn
looking for people to sign up on site via the Google FriendConnect widget in the sidebar if you can spare 30 seconds so we can give this a shot, and I can give a better review on whether its worthwhile or not. - Duncan Riley
Thanks. Gives me a chance to learn a little about Google Friend Connect. - Rolf Schewe
Thx Mel,Zee and Hutch. Zee, Hutch: I don't know what happens next, that's the part I'm trying to work out :-) - Duncan Riley
ok, one thing I've noticed: you can click on each avatar/ image and it takes you to a list of page/ links for each person. No idea if they share Google juice or not, but its another way of sharing links with people, so I'm cool with that immediately. - Duncan Riley
Atul, Orli was site number 1, the very first site to get it when it launched last year, and I've met her a couple of times as well, I can't speak highly enough of her. - Duncan Riley
I think I want this on my site....but I'm not sure what the point would be...LOL - ♫ Rahsheen ™ ★
thx AJ, Kate and Alan. Alan + Rasheen, that next part I'm not so sure :-) It shares links as long as you've got them in your Google profile, and the cool part is its all inline. Beyond that, time will tell..... - Duncan Riley
Duncan, thank you :-) and congrats! This gadget improved a lot since last year and Google's FC team is doing a wonderful job listening to feedback. It will get even better in the future. . - Orli Yakuel
Orli, no probs at all, and I hope one day to visit you in Israel and check out the local tech scene - Duncan Riley
You should! I've added lots of new Israeli-based companies to Go2 (http://www.go2web20.net - "Israel" tag) lately. It's amazing how the tech industry is growing here (still). - Orli Yakuel
Like the implementation. Looks good Duncan - Charlie Anzman
Love it Duncan! Just joined your site. - Larry Kless

I liked Sandy but eventually stopped talking to her... - James Hull
I Want Sandy should have either been open sourced so someone else could run it, or the smart thing to do, was for the announcement to say that Twitter is taking over I Want Sandy and the service will be run byTwitter. Only saying that the IP had been acquired, seemed kind of daft. - Colin Charles

"2) We believe that environments like this tend to sort out the true entrepreneurs from the pretenders. When money is easy in Silicon Valley, it tends to attract short-term opportunists looking to make a fast-buck rather than build a lasting company. Only the best entrepreneurs set sail in rough seas like this. 3) We like the probability for startups (especially Series A deals) in this environment. Consider that people are easier to hire and rent is cheap. Incumbents are cutting their R&D budgets, and there will be fewer startups in each space, all of which means less competition. These are good things." - Paul Buchheit

Point #3 is esp. true in a downturn like this - better engineers are available - Dave Hodson
#2 seems it could describe some vc firms .. but this is not now a time for only making a better system, this is actually about the complete transformation of intention and motivation ... so, the sorting out will continue - Gregory Lent
