"We thought you might be interested to learn that the FDA has completed its “Device/Not a Device” determination and concluded the handgun will be listed as a Class I Medical Device, exempt from 510(k) Pre-Market Notification in accordance with 21 CFR 890.5050 “Daily Activity Assist Device.” We have now submitted an application to the CMS contractor Noridian for a DME (Durable Medical Equipment) Coding Verification in order to be assigned an HCPCS code. "Description: From the funky rap free-for-all that is “Cold Chillin’ Christmas” to the snow-free Miami booty bass of “What You Want For Christmas” by the 69 Boyz & Quad City DJs, Wolf has got your vintage hip-hop bases covered for Xmas. For the funk lovers, there’s the slept-on classic “Go Power At Christmas Time” by James Brown and a little-known Soul Saints Orchestra tune from the Poets of Rhythm archives called “Santa’s Got a Bag of Soul.” From there, the comp ranges stylistically from reggae to avant-garde robot singing. And check out the exclusive contributions by Stones Throw artists James Pants, Georgia Anne Muldrow and Baron Zen" - Jason Toney via Bookmarklet

"We are falling off a cliff. To put these numbers into some perspective, the November losses alone are the worst in 34 years. A significant percentage of Americans are now jobless or underemployed -- far higher than the official rate of 6.7 percent. Simply in order to keep up with population growth, employment needs to increase by 125,000 jobs per month." - Ruth Ferguson via Bookmarklet

BBC NEWS | Health | Blueberries 'reverse memory loss'
32 minutes ago - via Bookmarklet - Link
"Eating blueberries can reverse memory loss and may have implications in the treatment of diseases like Alzheimer's, University of Reading scientists claim. Scientists found adding foods like blueberries to a regular diet, resulted in improvements in memory. The foods, known as flavonoids, were historically believed to act as antioxidants in human bodies. But the study indicates they also activate the part of the brain which controls learning and memory." - RAPatton via Bookmarklet

BBC NEWS | Middle East | Lebanon 'immune' to financial crisis
Show all
33 minutes ago - via Bookmarklet - Link
"The world maybe in meltdown but Beirut is booming. The country best known for wars, turmoil and instability has not just survived the global financial crisis, it seems to be thriving because of it. Deep down in the basement of Lebanon's Central bank treasury vaults are full. Cash has been flowing in like never before, Lebanese banks are posting record deposits and bankers say this is the best year in Lebanon's financial history. According to the country's chief banker all of this is because while the world was shocked when in September the banking giants began to wobble, Lebanon was prepared. "I saw the crisis coming and I told the commercial banks in 2007 to get out of all international investments related to the international markets", says Riad Salameh, the governor of Lebanon's Central Bank. There is a tradition of conservative regulation at the Central Bank in Lebanon, which kept the banks safe." - RAPatton via Bookmarklet

Providing there's trust and a commitment to communication, sure. - Jack Carlson
Yes, definitely.I dated someone like that for 3 years and loved it because it works great when you have kids. - Trish R
oh fo' sho. If I can do the LDR thing now, I could do this (it's all about the planning). My parents have done this the last 15 years and their relationship is probably better for it actually. - Jason Toney
Depends on what "long periods of time" is. I couldn't do the military thing where the partner is gone for 12-15+ months at a time. I could probably handle frequent business trips or something, though, especially if I was able to go with on some of the trips or go visit wherever my partner is for work! - Rochelle
I think at this point, I'm game for just about anything. And because of my active interest in all things online, I'm much more open about potentially dating someone I met via the interwebz. Things have definitely changed, and we have to change along with it. - Derrick
Rochelle has a good point. I was thinking of the frequent business trips perspective, not long periods like the military or working overseas. I would not like that as much. - Trish R
I'd really prefer not to. I don't get how you mean that it works great for kids, Trish. Seems to me like it would make things more difficult. - Kamilah Gill
How hot is she? How much does she make? Seriously - since I am poly by nature and so are my relationships the long periods are not a huge issue since I woudl nto be "alone". the question would simply be how good was the time we spent together. - Soulhuntre via twhirl
Akiva and I had a long-distance thing for the first 6 months. We lived 2 hours apart then. Every Friday, I would drive to Seattle and stay until Sunday and then drive back to college. It helped knowing that after the school year ended, that would be over. Having an end point would make things easier than being in a relationship where that sort of situation (or other long periods of separation) would continue for years. - Rochelle
Oh, definitely. I love love love my space. And reunions are always nice :P - Lainie
