From Larry Lessig: "The McCain/Palin campaign has written a fantastic letter to YouTube demanding that they start getting real about the response they're giving to notice and take-down demands of material that "are clearly privileged under the fair use doctrine." Here is the letter. Bravo to the campaign." - Thomas Hawk

I think giving the campaign too much credit is a little misleading. Would they give this issue a second thought if it weren't affecting their own campaign? I doubt it. I agree with the campaign, and I applaud the exercising of their rights, but I doubt the campaign has given any thought to this issue in a broader way. If politicians would simply push for a change in the law, making it clear that fair use actually exists (and not only as it relates to YouTube), I'd get behind them. - Dennis Metzcher
The thing I'm wondering about, of course, is who is filing copyright notices with YouTube to remove the McCain videos? Obama's campaign for using clips of their commercials? News networks? Individuals who've made videos? It isn't clear. (Blog post: http://rurl.org/13ep ) - Gib
