"The final phase of Android Developer Challenge I is now complete. Out of 50 teams of finalists, 10 teams received a $275,000 award each and 10 teams received a $100,000 award each. All of the teams' hard work during the past several months is apparent in the final 50 entries. The teams have each provided overviews of their applications and the technologies they used to create them; learn about all 50 applications and the teams that created them here in their own words. Congratulations to everyone." - Jason Chen via Bookmarklet

"Developers can expect the first handsets to be enabled with a beta version of Android Market. Some decisions are still being made, but at a minimum you can expect support for free (unpaid) applications. Soon after launch an update will be provided that supports download of paid content and more features such as versioning, multiple device profile support, analytics, etc." - Karl Rosaen via Bookmarklet

it doesnt seem as though malk will be a cost savings over milk - bob
"A small amount of milk was then expressed from an upper thoracic nipple, by gently squeezing the nipple between the thumb and forefinger (See Fig. 2). The silicone suction cup was placed over the nipple and the nipple 'milked' by very gentle thumb and forefinger pressure applied on and off the suction cup ... When conducted correctly it was possible to obtain approximately 0.5 ml of milk from one nipple." - ⓞnor
But what I'm really excited about here is the possibility of *rat cheese*. - ⓞnor

"Whatever merits Joe Biden may have as a Vice President, one problem — as his announcement speech made clear — is that he’s by far the greatest abuser of the term “literally” in American politics today. Were he to wind up in the Oval Office, I fear he might somehow get dictionaries to officially reclassify the word as a meaningless intensifier." - Karl Rosaen
lol, the main thing i noticed about his speech is that he uses the word literally constantly. (btw, literally literally means figuratively -- see http://www.npr.org/templates/s... -- and has for well over 100 years, so it's already pretty much an all-purpose intensifier. but even in that context, Biden uses the word about as much as my teen-ager uses 'like'. It's a really noticable verbal tick.) - j1m
He literally said "literally" in every sentence! Well, maybe not quite literally... - Ruchira S. Datta

The video of the fireworks over the stadium was a digital fake. Very Orwellian, creepy. - Nelson Minar
"While the dramatic fireworks display actually happened as portrayed on television, members of the Beijing Olympic Committee said it was necessary to replace live video with computer-generated imagery because the city’s hazy, smoggy skies made it too difficult to see" - Karl Rosaen

"Perhaps most exciting is TuneWiki’s integration with location services. Because the player can optionally tell TuneWiki’s servers what song you’re listening to, it can offer an interactive map that displays musical tastes across the world. This could be a huge hit on college campuses, where breakthrough artists tend to be discovered first. It’s also fun to find people in Dubai who listen to Kelly Clarkson (see the video below)." -- Wow, that's the least-compelling location-based service ever. - j1m
