Everything I've read about speed reading (old stuff) is that the brain can process multiple words at a time which is why newspaper columns are narrow -- and can be read often with just vertical eye motion. - lilbyrdie
Keeps stealing? They stole more then one sign? I couldn't find anything about their being repetitive thefts of their signage. Either way, it's sad that people have resorted to stealing political signs in this campaign. In the absence of real political discourse, I guess the only thing left to do is commit petty theft. - Jason Shultz
An excellent deterrent to prevent Obama-dislikers from stealing signs, but what if an Obama supporter steals the sign so the supporter can have his own sign for free? The campaign gets more money, which is the thief's intention, but the money does not come out of the thief's pocket. - possible248
I would go without the eyesore ... now it just looks tacky. Now they are just asking for more attention. I don't put political signs on my car simply because I don't want any problems. I don't think a sign is going to change anyone's mind... Major props to the design team for all the awesome looking collateral they created, though. - Brandon
Ha! I've considered doing a few things to some rather prominent McCain signs but the fact that I'm not evil prevents it. - Lindsey Smith
I've been tempted to throw Obama stickers over the McCain signs here in Florida, but passed. I just flip them off instead. - ::Kristen::
Must be nice to be on the left, where the worst that happens is the sign gets stolen. In Democrat neighborhoods in Oregon, McCain signs get firebombed. http://twurl.cc/5wk - Rob Sterling
I need to do that when I replace my stolen sign. Glad I took a picture, 'cause it's lasting longer. - Erica Mauter
Rob - you forgot about the dude that got shot for wearing an Obama shirt. :P :D - Tad - the Meme Maker
hell yes! A slightly tidier version of this needs to go in my mom's front yard. They (whoever "they" are) stole her sign, too. - Kamilah Gill
They had to buy the sign? I thought they gave them away for people to put up. - Victor Ryden
The only problem? Obama campaign takes a loss on every sign they sell. Thief still wins. - Mark "Rizzn" Hopkins
Loved it, until I read Mark's comment. - Toby Graham
Classic! Of course, the net signage is now bigger. Thus the total cost per square inch has been reduced. Plus it's getting page views here, so it must also be getting some extra eyeballs in the 3D world. - Mike Reynolds
@Tad: The guy who got "shot" for wearing an Obama shirt was in Great Britain, not America, and he got "shot" with a BB gun. So I don't think that counts. - Rob Sterling
That's darn nerdy. I sold Jason's cards not that long ago. - Cyndy
I sold my cards when I was in middle school (so, like 11 years ago) when I realized a heroin addiction would be cheaper, but every now and then I get the urge to play. Having no one to play with has kept the multi-colored dragon at bay, but now I'm hearing there's an online version... - Mark Trapp
I remember there was a pretty lucrative market for these cards back when I was playing. Wonder if that's still the case. But yeah, was definitely an expensive hobby. - saeba
"Thanks for the quick response. I'd been considering changing the entry naming scheme. I've got a very old style numeric numbering. I don't particularly care about SEO, but I've heard the more modern style of title-in-the-url is much better. I'd also considered switching domains at one point to something easier to remember for non-hams. In any case, thanks for the offer. I'll probably not being doing either any time soon, though I might check out the code. (It's only 160 lines of perl; can't be that complex. :) ) Is disqus_url used on Disqus' side to link back to the original page? And, if so, is there any way via the API to modify that? I didn't see anything obvious. From my end, changing a big block of URLs already requires a mapping from the old to the new for permanent redirect purposes. Doing that on the MT plugin side is fine for recovering comments from the old URL scheme. But, eventually, the new URL scheme might be useful from the other side, too. Anyway, I realize this is a..." - lilbyrdie
This is pretty neat, but you need some bright, high contrast, and small object to really mess around with it. Or a marker to color your fingers. - lilbyrdie
"Well, that does explain one thing: the ratings were wrong on a number of assets and bonds, misleading investors in to thinking they were safe -- but how can a AAA rated bond really be AAA if it's actually based on what's effectively a junk bond? Is that a problem with the rating companies (Moody's, etc.) or a problem with a lack of regulation? Or something completely different?" - lilbyrdie
