Microsoft wants to leverage the Windows brand to fight Facebook like it fought with Netscape? Looks promising but hate the "Coming Soon" that MSFT always puts in their products (if you launch something let me use it now). - Martin Añazco

Congratulations! I'm really happy than an Argentinean startup globally competitive - Matias Sulzberger
Congrats! You keep on rocking every competition worldwide! BTW, luckily these competitions are held on great cities. - Martin Añazco
Thanks for the support!! It's great to see that our efforts pays off.. and yeah.. the idea of Paris is something I could easily get used to :) - Santiago Siri
"America is surely the only nation that could — in the same decade — go to war against a president named Hussein (Saddam of Iraq), threaten to use force against a country whose most revered religious martyr is named Hussein (Iran) and then elect its own president who’s middle-named Hussein."

His clarity of thought and laser focus are something else! - vijay
Talk about a blast from the past. At my last company, someone took a next box and turned it into a fish bowl. - Greg
One of the most interesting things about the NeXT OS at that time is how similar is to the current Mac OS X. Just a small example. When you attach a file on an email it appears located in the exact location you choose and not at the bottom (like in Windows). - Martin Añazco
@Martin. Whoa!, I love simple details and touches like that! - vijay
know a lot of friends who lost their shirts with Next... bad business model as ever... - jfayel
Steve's first attempt at convincing a 2nd person that if a deskop computer was packaged inside a cube, that would make it awesome awesome. Do you think he'll have a 3rd try? (The iPod Shuffle doesn't quite count.) - j1m
Pretty successful, if you think about the AppKit evolving into Cocoa, and now being the basis for programming the iPhone. They were way ahead of their time on software architecture. - Chris White
I can barely recognize him. Luckily, the "uniform" has remained consistent! - Heidi Moon
He got the transition to database apps, connectivity, and the need for easy to write custom apps right, although it was the web that really changed the game here, not any particular hardware. - Loren Heiny
This rocks! I just wrote a blog post about it. Hey, this is something that is only available here. Facebook? Nope. MySpace? Nope. Twitter? Nope. Congrats to the FriendFeed team. Can't wait to see what's next. - Robert Scoble
I wish there was away to filter real-time updates by service - Mo Kargas
Afaik Facebook as a live feed thing going on.. not sure how far it is in terms of real-time, but the idea is somehow similar.. - embee
embed=1, so anyone trying out other numbers? - Josh Haley
Wow Robert, you get feeds like every second, so hard to follow. Correction, every quarter of a second :) - Nir Ben Yona
I guess I am really dense. It's cool, but all it does is save me having to reload or refresh, which the old ff actually did periodically anyways. It seems to be feeding the whole "attention span of gnats" culture. Maybe I will understand it much better in the debate room tonight! - Laura Norvig
real-time FF is almost TOO kinetic... strap yourself in suckas! - .LAG
what other variables after the ? can we use on this? - Josh Haley
Laura: you are right in that this isn't useful for everyone one as the primary FriendFeed interface (including me). I personally find it very useful for events like the debate. - Bret Taylor
Oh, now we REALLY need filtering. I'd love to see a live feed of all items that have the word "Obama" in them, for instance. - Robert Scoble
Robert: I agree about the filtering. - Bret Taylor
I think that'd break the system, Robert. - Scott Kitchen
+filtering the live stream would be awesome! - Justin Korn
It reorders things too -- on the downside it detaches comments from context, on the upside it means I don't have to figure out which comments on a long thread I've already seen and which are new. Will use it for a while to see which I like better. - Deborah Fitchett
@Justin if you have your subscriptions in folders you can open up windows for each.. - Simon Wicks
Since we have been using it internally, I keep the "mini window" open all day on the side of my screen, almost like a chat window. I use it as a notifier. I use the normal FF interface for most of my interaction except for the occasional comment. - Bret Taylor
it even works on the iPhone. I'll never sleep again. - Gaby Benkwitz ☼
Ah, I do get quite a sense of it from looking at Scoble + Friends feed. Yikes! - Laura Norvig
All I need now is a third 22" screen and one more hand to type - David Petherick
Bronwyn works with me at OTX. She went the day after me. Her experience mostly reflects mine, although I have to say I was a little disappointed. Maybe b/c my expectations were too high... The 25-minute finale of pure noise did not convince me, I was kind of bored after the first 5, and really annoyed after 15. And I still don't know where the keyboard/sampler came from. But indeed, an experience I won't forget... Don't worry, after such a sold out tour in Europe and the US, I am sure they will stop in BA sooner or later. - Olivier
Thank for the insight! Hope they come to BA (Jesus & Marychain are coming in november, at least) or anywhere reachable with a 3/4-hour flight. My expectations are super high as well, but I'm sure that seeing them live will be better than the youtube videos I saw (even from the "Holocaust section"). The experience that Bronwyn told is something I want to try. - Martin Añazco
same URL ? maybe it's a snafu due to all the politico traffic today - Susan Beebe
One is 3 hours ago and the other is 4. Does dup detection pick up duplicates if they are posted at similar times? - Kol Tregaskes
I suppose a simple feature that FF can implement is "mark as duplicate" kind of like gmail's "mark as spam" - I'm sure this would help them sort out this information easier. - Dustin
@Dustin, that could help flag posts for a more expensive algorithm to look at, you might be on to something there... - xero
well, it seems as though the only thing they're looking at is if someone reshared an item. That screenshot is clearly showing two different images as shown by their size. It nevertheless didn't stop Robert Scoble from liking both :p - Dustin
It should detect duplicated regarless of the time, i think. @Dustin suggestion of marking items as duplicate could help to give feedback to the algorithm. - Martin Añazco
I believe the items are split apart after a certain length of time, related or not. Also, if you are going to click "mark as dup", you may as well just hit "Hide". - ♫ Rahsheen™
people should also make the effort of searching on their own to see if something has been previously posted. a lot of the times the same thing is posted 3-5 times over - Cee Bee
Rahsheen, good idea when it needs to know what the user thinks is a duplicated and what the user wants to hide then not get both merged. - Kol Tregaskes
Cee, sure but not everyone is sharing to the same people, so they can search and not find it as they are not subscribing to anyone who has or they want to share it to their subscribers who might not see it. Did that make sense? LOL - Kol Tregaskes
Maybe before posting an URL the form should validate if that URL is not already on FF and ask the user (e.g. "Do you still want to publish this? You can "like it" instead"), etc. - Martin Añazco
I did. In Latin America (where unfortunately FF is not used) you get a lot more comments on Facebook than in FF. Actually, some other local social networks are incorporating these kind of features. - Martin Añazco
