Desktop Linux is hopeless. - Paul Buchheit
I agree with Paul. - Akiva Moskovitz
I think desktop Linux has actually gotten worse since the kernel 2.4 days (Redhat 8-9). - Tudor Bosman
Paul's right. Just reading http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/... will give you a good idea why. - Gabe
I don't want to agree Paul, but I'm being dragged kicking and screaming to that conclusion. - Matt Cutts
I gave up a few years ago and don't miss it at all. Now I use OSX with a Linux vm running under Parallels, and find that the combination works well. Linux is great for server work, but unfortunately the Linux "community" has usability instincts that are the opposite of good. - Paul Buchheit
The worst thing about bad usability instincts is that no one thinks they have bad usability instincts :) - Chris Lamprecht
I've just about run out of hard drive space on my Ubuntu machine (it's the SCP machine for backups/storage). Since I recently moved to a faster Wintel machine, the old Wintel is sitting around waiting to become the new Linux box. I've got a larger hard drive waiting to do it's job. I'm thinking openSUSE this time. The old Linux box will become my FreeBSD box, I think. - MiɳiMagɘ (Sexy Scimitar)
GNU/Linux desktop is for developers or absolute beginners. Who don't want to change or is too lazy, stick with OSX or even Windows. It's *not* a GNU/Linux fault (and YOU can make the OS better). - Claudio Cicali
I don't get it, where is the connection between the failure of a crappy card reader and the usability of the "Linux Desktop" (whatever that means... Gnome? KDE? fvwm?)? - Michael Zehrer
