"Like I said in my post, I support Jason's riding abilities 100%, he is a great rider and has potential to make a huge impact on the motocross community. However, you have to remember that he is a professional athlete who gets paid hundreds of thousands of dollars a year to support his sponsors in a positive manner, and he is not doing that at the moment. He is not a normal young adult who can party and make stupid mistakes and not worry about the consequences. He has an obligation to his supporters and to the sport.
He does put excitment into motocross, but this time he has gone too far. He should realize what is appropriate as a professional athlete and what is not. I hope he can make a recovery from his recent actions.
Nevertheless, thanks for the comment, and I respect your opinion." - Mike Martin
“Yeah It's official I prefer this to twiiter. So much tighter. People have to get over the number of followers they have on twitter and all the bs about conversations. You and your friends will find each other here.”
it's just easier to make a conversation here, yet twitter is still my favorite. - Orli Yakuel
I prefer twitter, but that is just me, I already have a following on twitter that is hard to remake on friendfeed - Mike Martin
I understand considering I have spent 10 times more time on FF in the last week than Twitter. The conversations are great. I am trying to drill down a bit though and see if there is a differentiation that is an advantage to Twitter. "X is used for... and Y is used for...." - Adam Helweh
The only reason I visit Twitter is to update my status or to check replies because they aren't so easy to check here. - Aaron Myers
I'm using Seesmic via Disqus at 1FPS. Didn't realize there were even any other video commenting services. Are there? - David Chartier
Dunno, David. That's part of the reason for my question. I'd love to offer video comments on a blog, but don't want to choose... "unwisely." How's Seesmic working for you? - Ed Healy
I haven't had anyone use it on my blog yet, but I've loved using it on other's blogs. And it was super easy to install. - Summer
video comments on other people's blog have been known to freeze my browser so I wouldn't implement this on my own yet. - Andy Roberts
Video comments? I haven't even heard of them outside YouTube. - Daniel Schildt
No i do not because i use disqus which supports seesmic which is terrible - Mike Martin
Is there a method/plug-in for Blogger? I'd guess that Google would find a way, since they own both Blogger and Youtube... - Joseph Z.
You'd think so but no. I hardly ever comment on Blogger blogs because the commenting mechanism and defaults are so useless. - Andy Roberts
The thing that would put me off is the sheer amount of time it would take to review and respond to video feedback. Has anyone who uses it found this to be a problem? - Winston
I allow for video replies through Disqus but I rarely get comments so it doesn't get much love! - Joe Dawson
And here's what theStar.com (newspaper) had to say about the pricing in Canada... - James Burchill via Bookmarklet
For anyone that is complaining that we have to pay $10 to $20 more on our data plan should read TheStar.com article that James posted, and stop your whining. Yes we are going to pay more, however, we are getting more than we did with the original iPhone. - Gerard Lagana
surprisingly, the rates are not as outrageous as I expected... - Mike Martin
Good luck sir. That is a bold statement. - Adam Teece via twhirl
Good idea. Twitter has lost a lot of momentum lately. It's still good for "microblogging", but it's missing a solid feeling of discussion. That's where FF stands out -- centralizing the conversation. - Jeff Beckham
Way to go Jason. My choice too. I'll read the conclusions you'll draw on that move of yours :-) - Eric Sausse
Not a bad idea, I've found SocialThing and ping.fm have helped expand my horizon's from Twitter - David Sky
This is a smart idea. hard to focus on FF while on Twitter. (Plus Twitter will probably crash 10 times during the next week). Plus FF has a bunch of new features to toy with. I'm tempted. - phil baumann
way to go Jason, reference Robert Heinlein and NOW you are the VICEROY!! - David Blumenstein via twhirl
I really prefer twitter over friendfeed, but good luck nontheless - Mike Martin
does that include not responding to twitters via FF? - Pokai
Hey I was wondering how long it would take to get you and Steve Gillmor using FF...wow, you both must have drank the same koolaid this week! - Susan Beebe
I think it is an interesting experiment. What would happen if you just posted and shared stuff using FriendFeed? What could a big hitter do for FriendFeed by doing just this? Keep going Jason, you tend to be a bit of a maverick and really spice things up (which I like). - Paul Jacobson
Yes, I will be checking off the "send to twitter" in FriendFeed. However, 99% of activity will be FF not twitter this week. - Jason Calacanis
You didn't check it off for that one. Considering you just sent a Tweet to yourself... - Chacha via twhirl
Where is the "send to twitter" feature? That would be really helpful... - Marc Vermut via twhirl
Its on the website, you are using Twhirl which doesn't use the feature - Chacha via twhirl
Chacha, you can send to twitter from friendfeed when you reply to a comment, but not when doing a new post. Unless I have missed that option. - Daniel Robitaille
You are correct Daniel :) But the feature to send a Tweet when replying to a comment is only found on the website - Chacha via twhirl
I'm curious to see how long until FriendFeed starts to get as glitchy as Twitter myself. - blackmailismylife
I just got a glitch myself. Someone comment on a Tweet, I commented back, and now both comments arn't there - Chacha via twhirl
Looking forward to this. Jason, interested to see the results of your efforts, and feel free to reach out to those of us who have been living here for nine months now. Taurus and Fondue will love you better for it. - Louis Gray
"Hey, I love the pre and post race shows over on http://motocross.com, so I will definitely check out the live video, it seems like a great idea, and I hope it turns out good" - Mike Martin
"Maybe the rain will mix up the results a little bit, maybe we can see some other winners besides Villopoto and Stewart. They are great riders, but It would be great to see some fresh faces on top of the box" - Mike Martin
"No problem, I love the site, great news w/ a great community. I'm posting over at Vital as mike868y (http://www.vitalmx.com/communi......) I haven't been that active lately because I've been getting ready for finals, but w/ summer coming up, I'm going to try and post some more" - Mike Martin
"The technology of motocross has been so stagnant for so long, the standard motor inside of a metal frame with two wheels, that If these new radical designs come out they could possible reshape the motocross world radically. Hopefully some company comes out with a good, solid electric motorcross bike that has the ability to be raced by beginners and pros alike." - Mike Martin
"Hey Chirs, Your site looks really good, I love how motocross is an international sport, and people from tons of different countries and cultures are involved. I'm glad to site finally works right for your, I had a lot of the z-index of some of the div's messed up in the css, should be sorted out by now..." - Mike Martin
"Thanks alot, your site looks really nice to. Great to see some more local motocross websites. The NJ area definetly has some good tracks, I will definetly subscribe to the email newsletters to keep up on NJ motocross. motoxsports is a relatively new site (I believe) but has great content, I definetly check it out often" - Mike Martin
"I also used to hang out at thumpertalk alot in to Kawasaki forum to talk about my klx110. It looks like I may start going there again as I am getting a four stroke to ride for the rest of this year" - Mike Martin
"I do check out transworld quite often, but I didn't want this list to be a mile long, and Racer X has a lot more content, and it is usually of higher quality. However, Transworlds race reports are great" - Mike Martin
"I still think that he will face more troubles as the season progresses. He has always had a hard time holding it together throughout the season. Seasoned vets like tim ferry will be better in the long haul. After a few years, once alessi gains some experience He will be a threat, but right now, not so much" - Mike Martin
"I totally agree Motocross Fan. Motocross is such a great sport, it is unknown to me why we face such opposition as our sport gains popularity. I hope that one day motocross will be as accepted of a sport as baseball or soccer." - Mike Martin
"Eh I have heard that all over the internet and I don't believe it at all. Alessi has never lived up to his potential in all his years as a pro. He has always had to potential to be the best but has never lived up to it. If he couldn't beat Villopoto there is no way he can beat Stewart, especially this year." - Mike Martin
