After Watchmen, Hollywood Should Tackle These "Unfilmable" Comics : AMCTV
August 19 at 9:25 am - via Reshare - Link
"Congrats, Hollywood. You've somehow managed to turn Watchmen (the comic book industry's equivalent of Ulysses) into a major studio release with its heart and soul intact. But it wasn't always teaser trailers and viral websites: Watchmen was at one time considered "unfilmable," by none other than Terry Gilliam, who struggled for years to properly adapt Alan Moore's masterwork. Perhaps there's hope now for other challenging comics to make it to the big screen. Let's take a look at a few "unfilmable" comics, and what Hollywood should do to translate them." - Steve Isaacs
Please don't try Sandman. Please don't try Sandman. Please don't try Sandman. - Cyndy
I think Sandman, Preacher and Fables would all be better suited as HBO productions. - RAPatton
RAP bite your tongue! - Cyndy
I thought the HBO Preacher series was a done deal - no? (Uh, yeah, let's read the article first, H - indefinitely delayed? Bummer.) I don't see Sandman ever working, though we keep hearing that Gaiman is closer and closer to getting the Death: The High Cost of Living film off the ground. As for Fables - I think a cable series has the potential to be pretty damn cool if in the right hands. - Heather Cee
You are right heather, Death is working its way towards reality, Preacher is stuck and Fables would rock if done well. - RAPatton

This is a great article and made me think - Hollywood? So what?! Get over yourself. Geeks rule their own world and don't need validation. If you don't like the Con, don't go. Makes it more enjoyable for the ones who actually want to be there. - WorldofHiglet

X-men: Are We About To Get An X-Men Movie Reboot?

They ruined that franchise with Xmen 3. Hopefully they could start over with the prequels and forget that movie even though they left the door open for a sequel. - Larry Kless

I see this discussion everywhere. Where should Comicon draw the line? At limiting tickets or simply moving to another city? I love San Diego, but the crowds have become damn near unbearable. - Scott Henderson
I don't think this will happen, but I hope we don't see Comic-Con get locked down like E3. - Donato (ricin) via twhirl
In all honesty, the only time the crowds bothered me was in the Exhibitor's Hall. It seemed particularly bad on Preview Night where it took 10 minutes to walk 10 feet. As for the panels, I was puzzled by the room sizes chosen for certain presentations. Spaced (Simon Pegg? Hello?), Pushing Daisies, and Venture Bros. should have been in much larger rooms. I'm not sure if this is due to doing the best they can on choosing rooms OR if someone is vastly underestimating the popularity of certain panels. - Heather Cee
Comic-Con is bigger than the space allows - not only did it sell out to the public before the show and fill every hotel room in the city there was a waiting list of over 400 vendors who wanted to get into the dealer's room but couldn't. If they had the space (ie vegas) they could really grow - but is that the best thing? There's no easy solution. No one wants to leave San Dieogo... perhaps expand beyond the convention center - with shuttles to events in hotel ballrooms around the area - segment the show : put video games at the Hyatt, Anime at the Hard Rock, etc... - Dewey Brett
Tucson (no model for anything, really) spreads out the Gem show all over town. I'd heard there were some activities in Balboa Park this year, but that seemed too far away. Maybe they could extend the show into some hotel spaces in the Gaslamp. Vegas or LA seem like they'd change the nature of the show, and there certainly has been a lot built in downtown SD in the last few years. - Scott Henderson
Especially with all that traffic I kept hearing about. The Con should go somewhere veerrrrrry far away, like North Dakota. That'll sort out the real fans. - Brian Ries
I'm with bringing the con off the coast and into the midwest. Space if by far not an issue for some of the bigger midwestern cities. - Todd Jordan
