How good can a game - based on an IP by Warren Spector - get without his contribution? Harvey Smith and team tried and failed with Deus Ex 2. - Mustafa K. Isik

"The development team has worked hard to improve the game since launch, but the game never achieved the player population we hoped for.
So it is with regret that we must announce that Tabula Rasa will end live service on February 28, 2009." - They should release the server binaries at least, so that people can have and run their own persistent worlds. Just shutting down the servers and leaving players out in the rain is a bad move for the MMORPG genre in general. - Mustafa K. Isik

Mobile gaming means somewhere in the house ? Could it be that playing on the DS or PSP is only happening when you expect some gaming opportunities and organize for it? But i think when smartphones like iphone, that you carry all the time with you, will become more widespread, more and more gaming on the go will happen. Perhaps to kill those (sometimes unexpected) waiting times. - Lode Nachtergaele

Yeah, but Rock Band doesn't "know" about the cymbals. I guess they're like alternates or something. - Marty Smith
Ah yeah, you're right, but nevertheless - rock band will never be my game until I find a sponser who purchase all the stuff for me :-D - Christian Weber-Detjens
Very cool of Capcom to drive community initiatives/contributions such as this. If I remember right, a few weeks ago they asked for fan photos of which one was supposed to end up as background character in SF IV. - Mustafa K. Isik
I kept wondering about/admiring the LBP presentation template :) Great that Joystiq got around to dig up some background information. - Mustafa K. Isik

I think that games on the iphone will make inroads in lot of peoples lifes. But to shake up the space occupied by Nintendo DS is another thing. I find it difficult to believe that the touch screen will replace the 8 buttons typical for a handheld game console. Secondly, Apple lacks a vast stock of wonderfull games that Nintendo has (and Sony PSP as well for that matter). I guess iphone games will level the mobile game field of java games on the GSM triving on the succes of the iphone. The days of the Nokia NGage and alikes are counted. - Lode Nachtergaele
the thread continues at Slashdot: "iPhone's Game Potential As a Threat to Java Phone Games" http://mobile.slashdot.org/art... I agree that Iphone gaming potential lies in certain class of games. Think monkeyball and RTS games. - Lode Nachtergaele
I agree with you. A 300+ USD handheld device that is only available with a phone contract and can only offer a very limited library of titles is not going to dethrone either DS or PSP. No doubt this space will remain interesting, but the first iteration of "better" cell phone gaming is not a direct challenge for handheld game consoles. - Mustafa K. Isik
Its all a matter of marketing. If Apple AND the games companies actually market it as a game machine, then it should be able to take a nice chunk out of the handheld space. And you don't need a contract for an iPod Touch. - Josh R
Miyamoto on graphics: "Obviously, I think TVs, gradually we're going to see more and more HDTVs in households and things like that, and so because of that, in the future I can definitely see that there will continue to be graphical improvements." - Lode Nachtergaele
IMHO Monolith's Project Origin looks very nice. I think one of the last 1Up Show's covered the game in its current state to a certain extent. I just can't help but wonder about how on earth they managed to pick a name as generic / boring as Project Origin for the title. - Mustafa K. Isik

according to http://friendfeed.com/e/e19b0b... it will be on the mac altough not sure if this is the Creature editor or the whole Spore game announced at 5 september for Europe. I only find a PC version of the Creature editor at EA website : http://eastore.ea.com/DRHM/ser... Can anybody confirm a mac version of the creature editor is coming on tuesday 17 june 2008 ? - Lode Nachtergaele
This does not surprise me that much - the in-game video footage I had seen over the last two to three months prior to launch looked very promising. I will give the game a try as soon as my schedule frees up a little, that is sometime towards the end of July I guess. If you speak German, the buffed-Show (via www.buffed.de) offers good footage in some of their epsiodes. - Mustafa K. Isik
