“How do I add/remove friends from the Home Feed?”
September 21 at 4:27 pm - Link
Visit a friend's feed. Near the top it will say "Friend lists: Home feed (add/edit)". Click on "add/edit" to remove them from the Home feed. The "add/edit" link can also be found by just hovering your mouse over their name. - Benjamin Golub
I saw that, it can also be done in the box which pops-up when you hover over the individuals name, but how can I manage the Home Feed in bulk (like I can the other lists). Add/Remove Friends shows up when I click all the lists except for Home Feed. - torque
To add to the Home feed in bulk visit: http://friendfeed.com/settings.... Check the friends you wish to add and use the "Add to friend list..." dropdown. - Benjamin Golub
Can I bulk remove from the Home feed? - torque
Sorry, bulk remove isn't available. - Benjamin Golub
Bummer. :) Feature request. Thanks Benjamin. - torque
omg I need a bulk remove feature, friendfeed is becoming more and more flooded its rediculous, it would take me all day to manually bulk remove - Kyle Weller
i agree...bulk removing people from HOME is necessary for me to manage the noise on my home list. ff has become unwieldly for me.... :-( - sean808080

October 29 at 10:47 pm - Link
how would this work, exactly? like you could designate which of your subscribers would see public vs. private stuff? Or just that people who weren't on friendfeed at all couldn't see your private stuff? - Laura Norvig
I set up a room to put things in that I don't want everyone to see. It asks every time you share something where you'd like to share it. If you're talking about individual automatic feeds, I guess there's no control. I can't see a way to make control over those, either. Just either put them in a feed or don't. - Kamilah Gill
Maybe there should be a memes room .... - Laura Norvig

October 5 at 9:03 am - Link
You can do that with Firefox. Download the IE Tab extension. Open one tab as Firefox and login to one account. Open another tab as an IE tab and login to the other account. I do this with another website and it works great. - Rochelle
Thanks Rochelle. I do that as well with Safari. But when I switch to the other tab with the second account and try to add/edit/paste/link something on the tab with the original account, it takes me to the login screen... I'd like to be able to reshare links for example and do not want to make the two accounts friends of each other... so I have to do it manually - Metin
Rochelle... Duh!!! I just got your point!! Log in under 2 separate operating systems... lol - Metin
Yeah, you got it. - Rochelle
I don't think I'll run out and grab Boot Camp so I can do this... ;) - Anthony Citrano
I think this will work if you want to stay with Firefox not IE. Run Firefox with "firefox -ProfileManager -no-remote", create a new profile and start, log in. With this, you must have two Firefox windows. - Yu-Jie Lin

I am aware of that, but I was wondering if it was possible to have that information displayed "automatically" instead of hovering over it. - Wobbler
And since I am throwing out some cents anyway: Would it also be possible to increase the character limit per comment BUT after the standard amount of characters, provide a "...more" feature so FF-ers have the option expand the comment if they think it is interesting enough? Might encourage some better/deeper discussions, which increases the attractiveness of FF? :) - Wobbler

Disagree on both. - Peter
hahahaha Peter, apt and succinct. But yes I disagree on both. I'd like to check out AJ Barac's cleaner friend feed but I only use Chrome now. - Toby Graham
1UP Peter - Akiva Moskovitz
Clearly, all opinions are valid, they are opinions after all... but can you state your reasons why you don't like these? - Logical Extremes
Yup sorry bout that, there is already an icon next to each post. And RE the scrolling, you would prefer a cluttered and busy friend feed? - Toby Graham
I can grok an avatar faster than I can grok a textual name - two little icons would tell me Who and What instantly. Plus, yes, I'd give up some white space for higher information density. For me, it's all about efficiency of scanning the feed. - Logical Extremes
I'm quite happy the way it is. To have an option to use the full width of your window would be nice but it's not a biggie. - Kol Tregaskes

I have been away for a while as my paws need a rest, and so pop into the new FF and look into one of the rooms and on this occasion I've opened the Sonica room - 'A Celebration of Music' http://friendfeed.com/rooms/so... and see that there are at least a page or so of content gone astray, please could FF set this back to what was there. Many Thanks - Jason
Dear FriendFeed Beta, I asked the other day about the Sonica room and the fact there were some pages and entries missing, however; I looked at previous comment from another FFer entity named Photonic, who also had similar concerns and issues about its stream, since them Paul Bucheit had kindly temporarily fixed the problem by adding ?num=100 and the end of the FF address, I also tried this on the Sonica extension and low and behold I have the uploads back http://friendfeed.com/rooms/so.... I don’t know why the Beta code is doing this, but maybe other FFers have some things missing and might like to try this, hopefully the code will be able to fix this and thus get back to some normality soon. Thanks and look forward to hearing from you. - Jason

Rochelle, what browser are you using? - Dan Hsiao
Firefox 3.0.1. - Rochelle
It's working for me on Firefox 3.0.1 on Ubuntu. Did it work for you before? - Rodrigo
No, it's never worked for me. - Rochelle
It works fine for my husband in Chrome and IE7. I guess I'm just "special". - Rochelle
Works fine for me in Firefox 3.0.1, too. What's weird is that we have nearly-identical setups, too. - Akiva Moskovitz
Rochelle, are you still having this issue? If so, make sure Firefox's is set to accept third-party cookies under your privacy preferences (http://friendfeed.com/e/1e78f4...) - Dan Hsiao
Dan, I have that all set correctly. Still happening, though. I'm learning to live with it! - Rochelle
Thanks for being patient about this. I'll have someone look into this for you. - Dan Hsiao
Rochelle, that happened to me when I first started using FF. I'm using Firefox3 in Linux and have its security set quite high. What I notice is that if my browser cookie for FF is not there, and using Bookmarklet to submit something, it will ask me to log in and afterwards it'll automatically direct to my main feed. However, if I'm already logged into FF, and using Bookmarklet to submit something, I'll see the drop-down menu of the my rooms. - imabonehead
WHOO FIXED! imabonehead wins. I deleted all cookies, made sure I had FF cookies always enabled (not just third-party), and rebooted Firefox. Works beautifully now. Thanks! :) - Rochelle
Rochelle, awesome! :) - imabonehead

I don't see the duplicate detection feature working too well. Here's a post that Scoble and Fruchter each shared through Google Reader which I subsequently picked up and bookmarked on delicious. http://friendfeed.com/search?q...
