“I'm interested in understanding how people use Twitter. Specifically how to people who follow a large number of people (100+) deal with all that info flowing in to them? Do you feel overwhelmed? Do you have special techniques for dealing with it? What tools do you use?”

Here's one of the ways something like Tweenky helps with all the people I follow. Set up groups for some things, then there is also the public timeline (not pictured) http://skitch.com/aadom/1hd8/t... - Adam Wygle
I am new, and have just over 100. The info Dustin gave will be helpful. Joe, I follow you. Why won't you follow me??:) - Kathleen Couch
I'll follow you Kathleen. To be honest I'm a bit cautious in adding folks so that I can avoid being overwhelmed. - Joe Friend
Tweenky has helped immensely, but I try to keep the list below 300. Since I tend to gravitate towards way too many topics - Apple, Development, Security & things related to MHC - I still get lots of data to process. I used to page back through friends histories on the main twitter page, but summize helped make that not necessary and tweenky really makes it easy to slice & dice. i will unfollow folks without hesitation if they suddenly start diverging from the main reason i followed (or turn out to be less than stellar folks to watch, like wil shipley). prior to tweenky, it was becoming a challenge, tho, especially if i had to be off twitter for a while. - boB Rudis
