Obama to return donations from I.P. Freely, Richard Hertz - 236.com - News

"Can't this campaign spot a fake name when they see it? We wanted to save the FEC's time so we grabbed the list of Obama campaign donations and went through the names for them, highlighting in yellow suspected false names as well as donations that Obama would be wise to return. Check out the donation ledger below:" - martinmedia via Bookmarklet
validation rules...hello?! - Susan Beebe
why is john kerry's name highlighted, but not cindy mccain's? interesting, and a consequence of online donations. people know that their donations show up in online searches, so they use fake names. i have several friends who use fake names for their political donations to avoid repercussions from work or potential work. one of my friends made a donation to kerry in '04 and her boss, a republican, made her life hell for 3 months before he fired her. - Faboo Mama

I was JUST watching about this on MSNBC. Isn't it frustrating that while the Dow loses nearly 800 points, McCain's camp is admitting that focusing on the economy is a BAD IDEA for them? How the hell is that "country first"? - Grant Gochnauer

“So because he was on similar boards with Ayers, and Ayers had a coffee get together Obama supports Terrorist. So I live in area where there are known pedofiles so I must support them? Palin can see Russia from her home so she has international skills? There is something wrong with their Addition.”

No, you got that wrong. Palin can see Russia from Alaska, so she is a communist. (For good measure, let's ignore the fact that the Soviet Union is long gone by now.) - Carlo Zottmann
With this logic, we can wonder exactly what McCain told his torturers whilst a POW, not to mention his associations with crappy politicians, many of whom are in jail or have been jailed. With Palin, we should demand answers on her associations with AIP. Do they really want to go down that road? - Faboo Mama

But if the McCain people want to rummage through presidential candidates' associations, real or imagined, to turn up figures who threaten to pull down this proud republic, they should begin in-house. Chief among those to whom responsibility attaches for the financial crisis that is plunging the nation into recession is former Texas senator Phil Gramm, McCain's own economic guru. - Mark Layton via Bookmarklet

"If Palin is going to say this, it is now perfectly legitimate to point out that she repeatedly courted a secessionist group founded by someone who openly professed hatred of the American government, cursed our flag, and wanted to secede from the Union. Sarah's husband, Todd Palin, was a member of this group, which continues to venerate that founder to this day, for years. As you already know, the group is the Alaska Independence Party, which sees as its ultimate goal seceding from the union. Todd was a member, with a brief exception, from 1995 until 2002, according to the Division of Elections in Alaska." - Carlo Zottmann

"I did find it ironic that Fox thinks that this clip was way cool and yet gave so much air time to John McCain braying about Obama “playing the race card.” It would have been nice to, at least, have the pals discuss it; but Fox ain’t NPR, yer darned tootin. One thing is fer sure, OK, I didn’t know Madeleine Albright personally; but I do admire her. Sarah Palin is no Madeleine Albright!" - Russellreno via Bookmarklet

"These stats are based on current polling, and as September showed us, voter preferences still fluctuate in response to events. It's just that at this point, Obama has a 7 or 8 plausible paths to 270--and McCain has only one. So for now it doesn't look likely." - Shellee via Bookmarklet
"But the truth is, without Michigan--which the campaign has now all but admitted that it will lose--it's very difficult to see how McCain can emerge victorious on Nov. 4. For months, McCain has made Michigan the centerpiece of his electoral offense, and with good reason. Iowa, a state that George W. Bush won in 2004, is almost certain to swing to Obama; he currently leads there by more than 10 points on average. Same goes for New Mexico, where Obama's ahead by 8. When combined with John Kerry's 251 electoral votes, those two states alone would put Obama within seven of the magic 270 mark; a single, additional win in either Colorado, Virginia, Ohio or Florida--all of which currently favor the Democrat--would put him over the top. Which is why McCain, desperate to make up ground, has long pinned his hopes on Michigan. The Arizona senator was polling within 2 points of his Illinois opponent as recently as Sept. 10. Unfortunately, the recent avalanche of distressing economic news--especially impactful in a state - Mike Reynolds
the reality is that summer is over when ppl start paying more attn, college students are back on campus, conventions are over, 1st debate is over, coupled with recent financial meltdown = Rx for failure for McCain - Ruth Ferguson
