"With the first set of tracking polls out to incorporate at least one full day of post-debate interviewing, there is no indication that John McCain and Sarah Palin have made progress in closing their gap with Barack Obama. In fact, Obama ticked upward in three of the four national tracking polls that published today, although he lost a point in Rasmussen. In addition, Ipsos/McClatchy has come out with a poll showing that the debate moved undecideds slightly toward the Obama ticket, confirming the results of most of the snap polling conducted on Thursday evening." - Mike Reynolds
Notable: The likelihood of Obama winning in a landslide (375+ EV) is 26.75%. The likelihood of McCain winning by *any* measure is 15.6%. Now THAT is interesting. ;) - Kevin Hessel

Facebook Co-Founder Departs To Build “Extensible Enterprise Productivity Suite”
Friday at 5:53 pm - via Bookmarklet - Link
"Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz (right) and colleague Justin Rosenstein were leaving to start their own company. ... Fortunately, Rosenstein (who formerly worked at Google as product manager of Google Page Creator) has posted more information about their reasons for departure in a Facebook note to friends, which we have reproduced with his permission below. In it, he describes briefly how Moskovitz and he plan to build to an “extensible enterprise productivity suite” that uses Facebook Connect as its user authentication system and borrows many of Facebook’s own design conventions. The two of them thought about building this suite from within Facebook but eventually decided that it would make more sense to build it within their own company. The choice quote: “We hope our products will become to your work life what Facebook.com is to your social life." - Paul Buchheit via Bookmarklet

"Facebook really is That company. Which company? That one. That company that shows up once in a very long while -- the Google of yesterday, the Microsoft of long ago. That company where large numbers of stunningly-brilliant people congregate and feed off each other's genius. That company that's doing with 60 engineers what teams of 600 can't pull off." -- Rosenstein, 2007/6/15, http://paul.kedrosky.com/archi... - j1m
Can't wait to see what Justin writes about his new promised land! :) - Adam Lasnik
“There's so much work to be done in the area of making things harder for people at work. We're passionate about hiding and omitting the very things we all need to be more productive. Whether it’s work output or the collective knowledge of an organization, we’ve got to make it become less searchable and less relevant. For enterprise developers, we’ll nurture an ecosystem that makes it easier to create and deploy underwhelming business apps that reveal the tragic lameness of your co-workers. At the same time we plan to remain oblivious to all acceptable standards of user experience.” - Noah Carter
this marks a great step in taking pokes and pie throwing into the enterprise. :) - Mukund

like Yammer to Twitter, this sounds like a feature not a product. so at very least there were personal or political conflicts that led them to conclude this wouldn't be prioritized at Facebook. perhaps Zuckerberg should sue them for stealing IP... - Jon Price
@Jon, I totally disagree. Yammer is just the privatization of microblogging for the enterprise sprinkled with a few more features. This sounds like a platform architecture modeled much like Facebook apps but geared specifically for work productivity. I can see apps for project management, document management, HR and yes, even microblogging rolled into this. I also feel they both provided one of the most eloquent exit explanations I've ever read and I found them to be very sincere. I can't wait for this. - Mark Krynsky

My violent coughing had subsided until I started listening to her "responses". Ugh. - Dan Hsiao
You're my second friend who has said that. So now my fingers are crossed that they win because I want you all to move home! - jenn schachter
Well I was watching the Canadian debate, I took a minute here and there to listen to the USA one, and Palin just loves beating around the bush on questions. - Herman
The scariest thing is that if McCain/Palin win in Nov... there is a remote possibility a day might come when America could be led by a clown whose definition of "Foreign countries" is restricted to Canada and Russia :)... - Kunal Malhotra
Herman: I agree about Palin not answering questions. It's really frustrating to see she's getting decent press and NO ONE is showing clips when she openly says that she sometimes wont answer the moderator or Biden's questions...that she wants to talk to the people. That's BS. It's a debate, not her time to rant about things she's comfortable talking about. I was really annoyed by the moderator too. She wasn't able to press on Palin to answer questions. If we had last week's moderator, I think the outcome would have been different. - Karen Padham Taylor
Mike said he wanted to move to Canada if McCain wins, I said we should go to New Zealand instead. I was glad to finally get to see both of them speak. - amelia arapoff

There’s no “for sale” sign in front of the ranch-style home at 2085 Shady Lane, at the corner of Shady Lane and Morris Avenue, but it’s listed by local real estate agency Micoley and Company for $475,000. The nearly 3,000-square-foot home includes four bedrooms and three baths, according to Micoley’s Web site." - Dan Hsiao via Bookmarklet

+1 Zee, me too. - Iain Baker
FF works on so many more levels than twitter. Besides, if you're subscribed on FF, you probably get the twitter posts anyway. - Cains
true Cains, but it doesn't necessarily mean that they (the subscriber) will pay any more attention to you - there' s a good chance they'll pay less attention in fact as some people just see friendfeed as an aggregator - Zee from WeDoCreative
I think on average FriendFeed users are more active in commenting and communicating with each other, that's what I find really great about it. On twitter it almost seems like you're talking to yourself most of the time. - John Duff
My FF subscribers far outnumber my Twitter subscribers at this point. But even when they were about equal, I got a lot more interaction on FF than I did on Twitter. - Stupid Blogger (aka Tina)
I used to be a lot more active on twitter than FF. I wish I could convince some of the holdouts on twitter to use FF but until they do, I just add them all as imaginary friends so I can see their posts in FF. - Trish R
i guess what i'm saying is - until twitter users discover what they're missing - a lot of the just subscribe on here and then bugger off back to twitter...and so don't see a lot of the activity on here. - Zee from WeDoCreative
Zee, I agree. That's what I meant by my comment. There are people I wish would interact more on FF, but they only use twitter. When I tried to convince them to use FF, they created an account here, linked their twitter account and never came back. I wish everyone would use both. - Trish R
I use both, for different reasons. I like the instant message facility of twitter to communicate with groups of friends or family members, and the seamless way I and my followers can move from desktop to cell and back again. I like friendfeed to read all the info/news in here, and be able to interact via comment. - Ian May
gotcha Trish :) - Zee from WeDoCreative
Zee - it's interesting, I'm not sure I'd say I value FF connections "more" than Twitter but I'm certainly seeing a more well-rounded picture of some of my connections. Also, for me I've got 250+ on FF vs. 2,300+ on Twitter. That makes FF much easier to manage. - Aaron Strout
yeah, definitely agree with you on the "well rounded" aspect Aaron. I think we're i see the great value is that in the long run (i'm hoping) friendfeed will become increasingly popular as the hub of people's social media lives. And if that's the case, we're already here and ahead of the pack:) - Zee from WeDoCreative
You can tailor your content in so many ways on FF that you just can't on twitter...twitter is still cool for what it is, but FF just offers so much more...I even think it rivals Digg for interesting content...I loved Digg once-upon-a-time but now days it's really bloated...you have to really sift through the manure to get the gold nuggets over there... - Live4Soccer
At least I know that my FriendFeed subscribers are actually REAL people! Not like my Twitter McSpammy followers ;) - Michael Forian
I'd say I'm with you on this one Zee. I get some odd Twitter connections, e.g. American football type ones which I'm not interested in. On FF you get far more interesting people. People who are interested in your content (in theory). - Kol Tregaskes
Because you can actually have a conversation here, perhaps? - Alex "Maverick" Scoble
