"Requirements definition will take all the time it’s given, but in the long run, takes much less time if the appropriate problem statements are written as a basis for the requirements. To a large extent, problem statements make up the product manager’s goals for the market." - Stewart Rogers

Eric Florenzano is blogging about Django so I would expect it to appeal the the (technically minded) audience on reddit. Don't stress it. As I keep telling myself, content is king and 'build it and they will come' (maybe). - Andy C

They are debt ridden after the merger I'm not sure how it doesn't happen. I'm still mad they killed The Rhyme and Raw from XM with no equivalent. Starting to sound like terrestrial radio, and with three radios, that doesn't make me happy. - Eric @ CS Techcast
Clearly, the Sirius - XM merger didn't solve all their problems. - Morton Fox

Quite a number of my friends invested in Sirius. Early on, I said that it was bleeding money but my stock analysis is apparently too conservative. - Morton Fox

How can that be possible? - Stewart Rogers via fftogo
Stewart, the answer is in the article: "When it comes to fixing the problems when they emerge, 28% found a solution successfully on their own but as many as 38% had to contact customer support to get help. At that for some people (15%) friends and family members who are more tech-savvy are the people to turn to when a product fails while 2% ventured online to find a solution for a problem there." So, to answer, people ask their tech-savvy friends who do look online. The 2% are tech support for the rest. - Phil Glockner

It's a french record label that is distributing their music under a creative commons model - they're monetizing their artists through merchandising and live performances - and it's really fun (and its obscurity makes it even more fun IMO). - bob corrigan

"Thanks for the great feedback, Mike. You are right on of course - there is much more to consider when formulating price, as you point out. That's all great stuff. My whole thing is just trying to help get over that initial hump. When you are experimenting in the market to see if there is an actual opportunity you sometimes don't have the luxury of going out and really identifying value being delivered. To me, that's something that comes over time. Chances are, you are going to want to iterate on price while you iterate on the very first versions of the product, work with the very first clients, and actually identify what's out there. The opportunity you think was there initially may not exist, so why not keep everything as simple as possible? Just my line of thinking. But again, you are correct. All PMs should consider the exact things you mention - my experience just tells me those come a bit later than the first, second, or third clients acquired." - Adam Bullied

I liked it too. It is really good practical advice. I always struggle with cost-plus pricing, but sometimes it is appropriate. - Mike Boudreaux via fftogo
