From the page: "There are a lot of articles out there on how to use twitter as a tool, whether it be a marketing tool or networking tool. That's all well and good, but what those people don't understand is that twitter has become a communicating tool, and simply pimping your product/service/site and doing nothing else is not communication." I disagree with her about Guy, I know him and conversed with him and met him on Twitter. But here's some more good advice. "My advice, if you are using twitter to gain anything, be it readers, users or whatnot, is to be yourself and to pay attention to the people you follow. Talk to them, reply to them, converse. I joined twitter to plug my writing. I did that. I met a lot of other writers on twitter and we've helped each other out in many ways. I gained some readers for my blogs and found a lot of interesting blogs to read. But in between the links to what I write, twitter has become my playground; to me, it's not a marketing opportunity as much... - tinu

I love Toni Morrison. I missed meeting her at my mentors house by a day. "You can think what I tell you a confession, if you like, but one full of curiosities familiar only in dreams and during those moments when a dog's profile plays in the steam of a kettle. Or when a corn-husk doll sitting on a shelf is soon splaying in the corner of a room and the wicked of how it got there is plain. Stranger things happen all the time everywhere. You know. I know you know. One question is who is responsible? Another is can you read? " - tinu

From the page: "What is Spam on Twitter? Commercial or promotional use of Twitter is allowed. There are many companies who create valuable, opt-in relationships with users on Twitter who want to keep up to date with them. However, if you are following other accounts in order to gain attention to your account or links therein, you may be considered spam. " But wait, there's more... - tinu

"All this talk of branding might not sit well with some bloggers who see it as crassly commercial or manipulative. And I can see those points. But I don't think branding means you have to do things that are not true to yourself, or write about things you're not passionate about. It just means you think carefully about your message, try to be consistent about it, and try to get out there to the people you're trying to reach." - tinu

There's a law somewhere that says you *must* read this; "I didn't pick up any more passengers that shift. I drove aimlessly, lost in thought. For the rest of that day, I could hardly talk. What if that woman had gotten an angry driver, or one who was impatient to end his shift? What if I had refused to take the run, or had honked once, then driven away? On a quick review, I don't think that I have done anything more important in my life." - tinu

"Google's Baris Gultekin, Business Product Manager explained that the value in this tool is that it gives advertisers a look at keywords that they are currently not advertising for, that might bring in a positive ROI. For example, a site that sells toys can use this tool to find a popular model or brand that they are currently not advertising for." - tinu

Have you been the victim of a Domain Trademark Scam? Good information to know: "A quick Google search turned up over 1,000,000 results for the company name - the first several pages all looking legit. Adding the words "domain dispute" to my search changed the results significantly. This is a domain trademarking scam - and apparently rather an effective one." Rob is good people. Someone as StumbleUpon really needs to clean out the negative tags he is associated with. The thing I like about him is that he doesn't feel the need to vote positively for something just because he knows someone who knows the person who wrote the content. If he gives a thumbs-up or a review, it's because he enjoyed the content. Two thumbs up for Rob! - tinu

"For the finished article itself, writers immediately receive $10. For each relevant backlink to an article, BrightHub pays one dollar. And writers receive 80 percent of the ad revenue of their articles." @miranda622's point notwithstanding, if you don't have the drive to make $9- $25 an article marketing your services directly to companies OR you want to have experience and credentials first, it's not bad pocket change. - tinu

"And there begins our crux. You see, if I give away some of best secrets of how I've driven traffic to my own website over the years, doesn't it diminish its value? You may think differently, but I think it does. I think it cheapens the information when there's not some sort of exchange." So true. "Meh. None of those myths really were myths to me, they were things I already know. And while I don't think they should have to fly coach to get to meetings, or even commercial. But let's not pretend that the only alternatives are JetStreams. I personally don't have a problem with a CEO flying in a private jet. I have a problem with the trickle-down theory of some of the aid that is being proposed and how it's portrayed. Poor or even middle class person wants help from the government they pay 30 - 40% of their salary to each year and it's a handout. But when corporations do it, it's okay. Yes, they make a bigger tax contribution as individual bodies but at some point, the individual in this country needs to be taken care of as much as the corporation. And at minimum, there needs to be a better correlation shown to how helping the auto industry and other corporate groups will help the average person, in real numbers, not theory. I believe it could have a positive impact on the economy,..." - tinu
