Your Cheatin' Heart: It's Genetic
September 3 at 11:57 pm - dsc.discovery.com - Link
"Swedish researchers said Tuesday what women have suspected all along: that marital woes can often be attributed to men's genetic makeup, according to a study linking a common male gene to relationship problems. " - Mona N. via Bookmarklet
it's true although i get it from my dad.. - Caroline
So what? Now we can't even get mad at them because it's not their fault if they cheat, it's genetic darling! No way... - Niki Costantini
both, but who's counting? - सत्याग्रह {Bren}
hahaha Niki (: you're right! - Mladen Srdić
That's what I'M saying, Niki. Screw statistics and research. Cheating is cheating. Do Not Want!! - Mona N.
some people are introverts some are extroverts some it's a cultural or personal, etc did they look at the outside interference in the research? exorcism is common in india could it be there faith? skin cancer is common in california etc.. - Caroline
You're right Mona: cheating is cheating. - Niki Costantini
Caroline? What are you talking about? lol - Mona N.
Caroline right, but you have a brain and you can make your choice. I don't think your examples fit in this case... IMHO of course - Niki Costantini
LMAO!!!! Caroline????? - Anna Haro
i don't mind cheating at all. i have cheated. but all these different things also add to a persons ability to "cheat": religion, location, type of culture you live in etc. if i man is allowed to have 5 wives is that considered cheating then? it's not well rounded ....the research project... is all - Caroline
Every person, individual, has a choice. 'Everything is not black and white' is a load of crap. It's either or. This or that. :) - Mona N.
To me it is. If a man is allowed (and i find that abosolutly wrong since it's not allowed even the other way round) to have 5 wives, it doesn't mean he can't choose to have only one. - Niki Costantini
Not that I am in favor of polygamy but ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P... - सत्याग्रह {Bren}
So it comes down to... choice. And cheating IS a choice. Even polygamy. - Mona N.
ego centrism ... my dear.. - Caroline
That I think everything's black and white? Far from egocentrism, Caroline. :) Fact remains, it's a choice. Monogamy, polygamy, cheating, or not. - Mona N.
+100 Mona +100 Niki - BeeLing
there is a reason why few men have chosen to stay away from this thread. but as a dancer for many years i can tell you that just because a guy cheats it doesn't mean he loves you any less. sex CAN be just SEX! just something they feel the need to do. or it can be a very amorous thing... but some men.. good men...cannot have sex unless they are in love and completely trust a women... either way both forms are truly great. - Caroline
Caroline, you're right, sexy can be just sex for many men (and women), and I can still understand that, but to me respect is always respect - Niki Costantini
I've bartended at a night club for a few years, been in corporate -- entertainment and IT (Fortune 500's). Doesn't matter who you are, or where you're from. Paid, free, consensual, or not. Cheating is still cheating, Caroline ;) - Mona N.

Men should be pretty evolved these days, and NOT act out every single urge. Last I checked, they're walking upright--knuckles off the floor. So what if science tells me they have the genetic make up to eff all day and night with lots of different people. He is also an evolved thinking human, no? Take some responsibility and make wise decisions. There are lots of things I CAN do, but don't because they're stupid and would have negative consequences in my life. - Anna Haro
Caroline: Says the vows that legally bind two individuals in a marriage... And Anna: exactly! - Mona N.
then vow on your life. when you ignore him because you worked too much and you didn't pay attention to him when he is Finally had enough.. he looks twice at the strip club or a girl in the subway... and i heard 1000x times how she doesn't wanna touch me. or she doesn't pay attention to me. remember my words. - Caroline
Can you see the little thing that peeks behind the hair of the girl with the hat? It looks like the tip of the knife to me! Poor guy. - Mladen Srdić
Wheres the gene for personal responsibility? - J. Abdul-Qahhar
@J. Abdul-Qahhar--you lucked out my friend. Science says you don't need one! Whoo Hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Anna Haro
:D What has science done?! - Mladen Srdić
That's right Mladen, you can PART-A like it's 1999!!!!! - Anna Haro
But those men have choices, too. Divorce, communication, or therapy. Everything is a choice! - Mona N.
Mona that's it, the answer to this entire thread is...wait for it...COMMUNICATION - Anna Haro
your looking at things at a female point of view. have you forgotten some men find it hard to communicate these things... we mostly do the talking... - Caroline
blah...blah...blah...always has to be the guy's fault, eh? pass! lolz - .LAG
Well, they better learn to communicate. How hard could it be? And that's just not correct. - Mladen Srdić
No, I know they do, but it's something they have to work at, and women need to learn how to read them as well. We both need to work on better communication with each other. - Anna Haro
Caroline: I am not looking at it from a female's point of view. I firmly believe it's up to the females to reach out, so the connection is never lost, since females -- like you said, are the talkers. - Mona N.
btw... @·[•_•]· -- that's the coolest FF username evar! i must follow just because of that - .LAG
@.LAGizmoto you should have seen the other variations (: - Mladen Srdić
Is thinking about cheating cheating? Is thinking about being with someone else while intimate with a partner cheating? How about just choosing to spend free time with someone else? And why is it wrong? Is it wrong because it's lying? Is it wrong because it may be dangerous? It isn't black and white. Everyone will answer these questions differently and most people probably don't know their partner's answers. - ·[▪_▪]·
i remember this guy said a long time ago...it had been so long it is just a void...a void. grand canyon........ your right tho. some women give up. or after the talk. it's just. over?.. but some women have low sex drives too?! right? i dunno i have a pretty hyper one so dunno why...but during the talk then what? hi i ignored you then what? plan? plan for what time? we work too much how to make time etc.. - Caroline
This thread is starting to annoy me. Suddenly, men don't do the talking -- i guess we're back at slamming the females on the back of their heads and drag them away to our caves. - Mladen Srdić
@mladen shh were getting there. - Caroline
my take: men are beautifully simple. women are beautifully complex. men are the immovable object. women are the irresistable force. ladies, if you can't figure out the guy you're with, then don't be with him. and, once you figure him out, either accept who he is, warts and all, or leave him. it really could be THAT simple. some guys can communicate. some guys can't. some guys will cheat. some guys won't. i have to put the burden on the so-called better half: ladies, figure it out or get out. - .LAG
and mango, too. - Mladen Srdić
@Anna Haro... Thanks for making coffee squirt out my nose hahahaahah - J. Abdul-Qahhar
poor guys... - Caroline
mona they want you back sweety.night. - Caroline
We need Kyle to /end thread. - Mladen Srdić
This is exactly the reason why people should choose their partners, wisely. To make sure, the bond is never severed. Otherwise, why get married? And it's not poor guys, Caroline. It's a two way street :). @Nicerobot: Thinking and acting are two very different things, in my opinion. Besides, if you think of cheating, then something is very wrong. But that could be me. As ADD as I may seem, when it comes to personal relationships and feelings, I have a very one track mind ;). - Mona N.
polygamy is not cheating. but anyway, this whole issue is going to take our species a bit more emotional evolution to properly deal with... we're still schizophrenic about it (our social rules do not match our biological rules). but if you want a sneak peek: realize that eternal monogamy is a fantasy and get over it. - Anthony Citrano
This is why being muslim is the way forward as they are encouraged to marry only one wife but if he gets permission he can marry an additional wife up to a total of four. Correct me if I am wrong! - Joe Dawson
@mona no no i meant poor guys they want the thread to end and more legos and bacon. - Caroline
Partners don't need to be chosen wisely. They just need to be given time to learn about each other, thoroughly, no less than a year. This is just too complicated to discuss in this small box. :( My point was just that some people will think that thinking, in that sense, is cheating. This is really easy though, live your life the way you'd like your partner, and everyone else for that matter, to live theirs without imposing your beliefs on them and hope your partner does the same. - ·[▪_▪]·
Anthony: Just because it's legal, it doesn't make it any different. A polygamist is just legally cheating. :) @Joe: HAHAHHAHAHAH! - Mona N.
Nicerobot: Yes, I agree. Though the fact remains, however which way one tries to sugar coat it. Cheating = cheating, J. :) - Mona N.
OMG...is this thing still going? - Anna Haro
OMG... YES, wtf! - Mona N.
People sugar coat cheating? My massive sweet tooth and I must try. :P - ·[▪_▪]·
Mona I guess we define cheating differently. If everyone's open and honest with one another, I don't get how it's "cheating." - Anthony Citrano
If you took a vow to be true to that one person, and that one person only, wouldn't you be defying rules? (Given that your'e open and honest) @Nicerobot: =O!! - Mona N.
YES I totally agree with you. If you commit to be monogamous with one person, and you break that while you are still in that commitment, it sure *is* cheating. But polygamous relationships are not monogamous 1:1 commitments. They are commitments between multiple people. No one's cheating so long as they remain within that bond (however many parts it has.) - Anthony Citrano
So, men cheat because it's genetic, and women cheat because....they want to? - Slippy Lane
I don't buy the argument that men (or women) cheat because of genetics. Sure thousands of years ago it was genetic, but today human beings have a brain capable of analyzing and thinking and deciding on a choice. There is no such thing as "accidentally" cheating either. Cheating is a choice, all those so-called "reasons"; drinking involved (or not), she/he's just a friend (with benefits) or not, these are choices that each individual person makes. - LonelyBob

I so do not want an iPhone. Are there as many problems with the iPod touch? I do want one of those. - Mattb4rd
I've had nothing but good luck w/ my iPhone. No probs. - Andrew Baron
outsanity, it's the instinct. i have it and don't think it looks like the iphone. i love my phone, even though it's hard to do without a ton of apps like i had on my PPC6700.and since it's java based, there's a lot of things that won't work on it. but it's ridiculously fast (i tested both the instinct and the iphone on the same day) and if you're not hung up on silly ibling, you'd be happy with it. but wait until they fixed the sound problem with uploaded videos to youtube. that's annoying. - Anika Malone
The iPhone has memory management issues right now. Until the 2.1 update comes out in Sep. there are a few fixes. Turn off all automatic email checking. Manual email checking only. This will free up 14mb of ram. Also only install under 20 apps. Preferably 9 or less. Not much fun but should help a little. - CubFan
