Its 40MB for the free version, which I discovered when I started importing photos of all my old school reports. It notified me I will lose the ability to add or modify notes or notebooks. I'm hoping that's not the case and I can keep adding stuff, but without it synchronising online. - David Adam
via IM
i believe you can change the settings on the notebook to not sync'd, and you should be able to add local notes. same thing happened to me at first, and the popup warning message made it sound like i couldn't add anything more until my quota reset. - Trent Olson
Rodfather, totally. One of my favorite game endings ever; I couldn't stop smiling. - Akiva Moskovitz
@Akiva I just played through it for the first time, too. I am a big fan of the song at the end; I love that the guy who did Code Monkey did the song. - Neal "thePuck" Jansons
@Joe I don't think so - but you can buy the song on iTunes, download it for Rock Band gratis, and you can find a bunch of youtube recordings of it as well. - invariant
It's definitely one of my favorite Rock Band tracks. Free download along with Steven Colbert's 'Charlene' - Rodfather
I liked the song at the end...and cake of course. I hope they are working on a sequel. - Mark Krynsky
Mark, they are. They mention it in a very off-hand manner in one of the developer commentaries. - Akiva Moskovitz
ok, weird. i just played Portal for the first time tonite... - Trent Olson
I was even SO CLOSE to the Castro... spent the evening in the Haight. Considered meeting my bro in the Castro for a drink around 11pm but came home instead. Next time, you call me! Or else! 415-279-9245. Seriously. :-) - Lisa L. Seifert
Oh Lisa how sad! I was wondering if we should publiize more on FF but I wimped out - my bad - anna
*psst* Derrick? We should invite Chris W next time, too. I think he feels left out. <end whisper> - Lisa L. Seifert
You guys ALL need to attend the next SF Bacon & Beer Happy Hour!!!!! I'll keep you posted as to when it is. It's usually during the week, though. Be forewarned. - Lisa L. Seifert
I can't wait to meet Anika's darling kids in person. <giggle> - Derrick
hey, next time you're all in Winnipeg...*game on!!!* - Trent Olson
actually, i'd settle for Minneapolis (or, on a good day, St. Paul)...any friendfeeders in the twin cities? - Trent Olson
I grew up just south of the Twin Cities. In Red Wing. :-) I go home every once in a while. :-) - Lisa L. Seifert
And I LOVE Seattle, Rochelle!!! I'm planning a trip for a friend's wedding if they EVER SET THEIR DATE! :-| I'll totally visit you, Akiva and your brand new baby. But only if we can play games! I LOVE that you guys play games together. :-) - Lisa L. Seifert
if i had to pick one right now, it'd be the Mates of State record...nothing else has been stuck in my head like that one... - Trent Olson
I was right: it was pretty clearly too weird an hour. ;-) - Chris Baskind
I'd have to think longer than I have attention span for right now, but Portishead may well be my #1 album of '08 too. - Logical Extremes
Thao Nguyen and the Get Down Stay Down's album...hands down. - Mattie Kenny
I don't think I'm aware of any album released this year that I care about. I usually have an MP3 player connected to an FM transmitter in my car, and my motorcycle's radio died the day after I took it home. Of course, I was using a flash drive connected to the radio's MP3 player. The tunes I have are generally better than the tunes that are made these days. - MiɳiMagɘ (AlwaysMiniMage)
Hot Chip's 'Made in the Dark' for me. I just keep coming back to it. - Martin Bryant
MiniMage - That's a bit insulting and condescending, man. I don't listen to the radio but that doesn't mean I haven't found albums and artists I love and enjoy. I think your laziness in not trying to find music is the culprit, not a lack of good music being produced. - Mattie Kenny
There were TONS of great albums out this year. The new David Byrne & Brian Eno was fantastic. M83, Fleet Foxes, Vampire Weekend, Cut Copy, Silver Jews and The Hold Steady all had great ones too. Portishead also a great call, loved them at Coachella. - Kevin Cuneo
Kevin - I loved every single one of those albums...except Vampire Weekend. I hate Vampire Weekend. haha. - Mattie Kenny
I was more into new music last year than this year. The only one I even remember purchasing was Vampire Weekend. I need to some shoring up, for a bit. - Helen Sventitsky
Mattie, I'm not the only one in this world who feels that more dreck than treasures are produced today. It's no secret that a pretty face and uncovered body is often what's needed to be a hit. Perhaps its more like the record companies are too lazy to provide us with quality musicians. Should I have to listen for five hours just to find one song I like? I have to work rather hard to get the music I want to hear on the radio. - MiɳiMagɘ (AlwaysMiniMage)
Trish, you do know that once he has one of these, he's going to ignore the house and everyone in it for three to four days straight. Probably won't shower, shave, or apply deodorant, either. :-) - Ladybug Heather
that, the harmony and my plasma are the top 3 tech purchases of the last 5 years. all three changed my life (not to sound dramatic but to express a significant change in the way i routinely do things). [my macbook comes in a tight 4th.] - Carlos Ayala
The Logitech universal remotes? We have an 880 and like it. The programming software is irritating and there are some really dumb quirks such as the difference between what soft buttons come up when selecting a new activity as opposed to selecting the device directly and the fact that I have to really finesse the remote into the cradle to get it to charge but, other than that, it's the best remote we've owned. - Akiva Moskovitz
Looks cool but you would have to pry my Tivo remote from my cold dead fingers. - Josh Haley
well, if it could feed four kids a well balanced meal three times a day, i'd get one - Trish Haley
Josh, you can control everything you own with almost any of the Harmony remotes. There's a huge database of built-in remote codes and functions plus you can teach it individual buttons with any existing remotes that you have. - Akiva Moskovitz
how many remotes do you have? well with this you will only need one. this is the only true universal remote. its smart enough to identify the hardware in your house by simply pointing another remote at it and it pulling its instruction set. depending on your setup you can even control your interior lights, fans, and garage door. its very powerful and worth every penny. i have the 880. heres a rundown: http://piurl.com/qFy - Carlos Ayala
josh - you wont need that tivo remote anymore. - Carlos Ayala
(*cuddles Harmony 550*) it's ok, little guy, you're all i need...don't be jealous of the 880 owners... - Trent Olson
the good and bad of ff: i get out of sprint so i can haz iphone, and now on to the next conquest... a harmony... keeping up with the ayalases is hard! - Trish Haley
The 880 looks like it would feel better in my hand, but still, at 250 it is just not gonna happen. - Josh Haley
OK, next question for you iPhone users: Get it online or at the Apple store or at an AT&T store? and why? - Josh Haley
You can get an 880 new for $175 at Amazon, I think. As for your other question, there's no benefit to any of it. I'd choose the Apple store over an AT&T store simply because the check-out process at the Apple store doesn't require standing in line. I'm too impatient for online ordering when it comes to stuff like this so I have to buy it in person so I can play with it immediately. - Akiva Moskovitz
ordered online and picked up at Apple store - easy - BEX
you don't know just how funny your saying "i can has bizkit" is to me at this point. perhaps one of the others ladies can explain it to you. Yolanda? - Monique
via IM
Seriously Momo, imo, that group embodies all that is wrong. But, I still luh you like a play cousin. - Anna Haro
lol. using my own lines against me! - Monique
via IM
so, "i can has bizkit" is making you laugh, but not in the way i intended. hrm, that kinda makes me feel like i'm being laughed *at*...boo - Trent Olson
I don't even know what song you guys are talking about, but I DID see Fred Durst playing a dumb cop in a movie the other day with the new guy that's on Law&Order. He had lost a lot of weight or something. - ♫ Rahsheen ™ ★
Rahsheen, are you trying to make me fall out of love with you? - Monique

I wouldn't know. I blew up my Lick Dickit CDs - Outsanity
I love how you are able to turn anything into a dick reference. - Monique

that counts. i, OTOH, bought absolutely nothing. - Carlos Ayala
I barely left the apartment. People in search of sales at 6am scare me. - pea♥ fierce as a woozle
I didn't buy anything but not because I was trying to make some kind of statement. I honestly couldn't care less. I just didn't feel like doing any shopping yesterday, online or off. - Akiva Moskovitz
i bought some beer...it wasn't on sale :( - Trent Olson
I bought 2 much needed Moleskines on Amazon with a birthday voucher, they were on sale and got free shipping thrown in :-) - Sally Church
I didn't go out of the house all day actually, oh and I didn't buy anything online either. It wasn't really a deliberate effort. I didn't need anything right now. - Ian May
Bragging rights. It's an asinine waste of time but at least some Linux nerds out there can pretend that they 'pwned' Apple. Whoo whoo ring a damn bell or something. - Akiva Moskovitz
I'd like to rig an iPod Touch with Linux + Android and turn it into a VOIP device by leveraging bluetooth and WiFi to make free calls. Apple would never allow the apps that I want to develop for the device. - scott anderson
Why *wouldn't* you put Linux on a computer. Linux puts you in control. In Apple's world, phone call on you. - klecu
stupid idea. linux on iphone is so stupid. iphone os 2.2 is far more advanced than linux - TheHenry
Hello, my twitter UN is Bluraven. Thanks! :-) - Carlton
via twhirl
cool username Carlton...ring a damn bell. - Trent Olson
(sorry, that was really mean of me...but i couldn't resist...esp. since i don't understand what your twitter account has to do with this thread) - Trent Olson
why the hell would someone even do that. Stupidest idea ever!! I stand by that all the way - TheHenry
[Not that I know of any other way to post audio] Anyway - it shows a player, but clicking on it [firefox on debian] makes it disappear. On epiphany the player hangs with "Connecting..." (this post's link goes to the mp3 I'm trying to play). If (by chance) this behaves OK on explorer or something, please comment here - ĎÚβĨŐÚŚ Dod
I have to figure out how to convert from the URL of an image to a "multipart/form-data" type="file" format so that I can easily pass images to Tarpipe. - ♫ Rahsheen ™ ★

I started small and now have nearly two full sleeves and I don't see it as self mutilation as I do my own personal one of a kind wearable art. The pain really isn't that painful. *shrug* - Derrick
Nope, but I plan on getting one eventually. Something with cherry blossoms, I think. Still deciding. - Carmen
Always wanted one but never have done it- needle fear. - Abby Martin
If you can't take it off at night, it's not "wearable." :) - Glen Campbell
Mutilation is cutting off your twin's arm and attaching it to your side. Piercings and tattoos are just a little body-modification. - ♫ Rahsheen ™ ★
I think it's a form of self-expression. [Tattoos that is, not wearing your twin's arm] - Abby Martin
Whenever I can get an animated tattoo maybe I'll think about it. I like tattoos, but I'm not really interested in having any myself. - Tad, TV's Patrick Duffy
Hmmm. Wondering why the polarization. Do people look down harshly on those with ink? I'm still the same lovable Derrick on the inside. :( - Derrick
Derrick, as someone strongly on the "no" side, it's 100% personal for me. In other words, I don't look down on it or on people who choose to have tattoos. It's just definitely not for me and something I won't ever change my mind on. But if you want one or 100, go for it! - Rochelle
Of course, Derrick. Tats and piercings are not really acceptable in our society. That's why you have to cover/remove them at most jobs. They don't want to offend anyone, dontcha know. - ♫ Rahsheen ™ ★
No, I understand, Rochelle. And a long sleeve shirt on me and you'd never know. Rah, I work at an art college; ink is almost a pre-req. ;) - Derrick
No I don't. But oddly, I always go through this back and forth about it. I even designed one with the notion that if I ever got one, THAT would be the one I'd get. I think I continue to hesitate for two main reasons. 1) Body image. I can't seem to find a place on my body that I feel would represent the tattoo and my body, well. 2) It's almost unusual to not have one anymore...and I kind of like that. I'll probably never do it. But I don't like never. - RPM
I agree with Rochelle and add, young skin is a wonderful canvas. Someday the expensive forms of art are just going to be buried in wrinkles. Tramp stamps can hinder a person from getting an epidural and some self inking contains materials that won't allow for MRI. I don't have aversion to artwork on someone other than myself. - jlt
Rahsheen, matters where you live. In Seattle, it's far more acceptable than it is in, say, Omaha. If you throw a rock in Seattle, you're likely to hit someone with a tattoo somewhere. Me? I'll never, ever have one. Sure, I've seen a few that I've liked but, for the most part, it's just a rotating parade of meaningless Celtic knots, Chinese characters, butterflies, fairies, and astrology symbols. If it's a form of self-expression, I guess a lot of people don't have anything original to express. - Akiva Moskovitz
Akiva is totally correct. The same is true in San Francisco; tatoos are pretty commonplace. My favorite quote is by Brian Setzer, I believe, who said to never have a tatoo where a judge can see it. :-) - Kenley Neufeld
For myself, my tattoos came about after going through a really rough and difficult part of my life. My mother had died, then my grandmother; people I was extremely close to. Each piece tells a story. Like a tree and their rings. - Derrick
No, and don't plan to. I think the human body is a work of art in and of itself, and any artificial human alteration is a conceptual "mutilation" of perfection. that said, what i don't understand about people with tatts is this notion that it's 'art.' every tattoo I've ever seen just looks butt-ugly--to me--of course it's all in the eye of the beholder, and i suppose some ink has personal meaning which only the owner will appreciate. to each his own. - .LAG
the other thing: if you get a tattoo on your back, or butt, or anywhere on your body were you can't easily see it, is it really 'personal' art, or are you doing it for other people to see? i mean if you can't see it, in all it's glory, what's the point? - .LAG
yes, a small blue lobster a designed myself. it has a lot of personal meaning. - Trent Olson
Bad tattoos suck. Mine happen to be the most awesome ever affixed to skin. So there. :) - Derrick
jlt - I'm on my iPhone but I posted some in my feed way back when. Anyone have any of my pics showing some skin? - Derrick
I have 2. People still tell me that they don't think I'm a tattoo person. "Doesn't the fact that I have two make me a tattoo person?" I ask. Apparently the answer is no. Whatever that means. I've never regretted the decision to permanently mark my body. And I specifically chose locations where I could see the tattoos anytime I like because, yes, they are for me and no one else. - pea♥ fierce as a woozle
