I wonder if their bank calls them. "Sir, in order to maintain free checking with us, your direct deposit amount needs to be at least $100 every month..." - Tudor Bosman
Wow, Thanks for sharing this Fred (and Irene). - Kevin Fox
A Korean man in Georgia circa 1965: "He pulled over at a rest stop to go to the bathroom. He stopped short of the restroom doorway. There were two entrances, one marked "White" the other "Colored". He stood there for a long minute. Was he white or was he colored? He had to make a decision because he really had to go to the bathroom. So he went into the white bathroom. Without incident." - Clare Dibble
It's amazing to me to think of how long ago this *wasn't*. Hell, my brother was born one year after this took place, and I was born just six years later. The times they are a changin' (he says hopefully). - Joel Webber
I'm honored by all of your sharing and comments. :-) - Fred Chung

We went to La Fiesta for lunch today :) - Benjamin Golub
Why do you feel awkward eating out? Okay, sushi is sushitomo, chicken soup from la fiesta, or pork rice plate from viietnamese hole-in-the-wall on villa @ castro. Maybe peanut noodles at queenhouse, or something from that italian place near the railroad tracks. - Chris White
Amber India on El Camino, or Sushi Tomi (where we normally go) do carry-out - Casey Muller
Pasta? (Pasta Question Mark) <--actually I haven't been there in a few years so don't quote me on that. But there are TONS of great Persian / Arabic places out there! - Mona N.
Groan. Persian / Arabic food sounds so good right now. - Robert Miller
Most of the good persian / middle eastern food is in PA though. Truly Mediterranean on N. California, or their family restaurant on University. Also, the sharwama place on Cowper & University (next to Il Forniao). - Chris White
Taiwanese chopped pork over rice from Queen House on Castro. - Jess Lee
Dude, just pop yourself over to Chez TJ, book a table, and order the chef special with a wine flight. :) Okay, too stiff for the budget (and potential to piss off the SO), go next door to the tied house, order the beer flight, calamari, and fish 'n chips. (Okay, it's not that good, but if you drink enough beer, it won't matter). - Chris White
I'm going to try Queen House, thanks everyone! - Benjamin Golub
Go to Tied House at least once, then. - Denton Gentry
I think I went to the Tied House last time I was here. Casey/Dan was that where we went? - Benjamin Golub

A nice touch: Amber India actually gives you 10% off your order if you call ahead and order carry-out (as you don't have to pay for service). - Tudor Bosman
Oh yeah: Colonel Lees Mongolian BBQ is on Castro! Its actually pretty good and quite inexpensive, though its a complete hole in the wall. - Denton Gentry
As Chris White mentioned Chez TJ is very, very good. Its also very expensive, and frankly would be awkward for just one person. - Denton Gentry
Denton, I usually order the chef's menu and wine flight to go. ;) - Chris White
I often eat alone. It's not awkward and no one gives me a hard time for photographing my food when I'm by myself. - Morton Fox
Morton, you eat at Chez TJs alone? I used to bring it back to the Google cafeteria, and people would ask me where they could get that. Okay, I never really did that. I did try to use the Google employee in-house service to order margaritas from La Fiesta once, but they wouldn't do it. - Chris White
Chris: No, Chez TJ is apparently on the opposite side of the country from where I am. - Morton Fox
Yeah, Ben, we went to Tied House last time on Halloween. :P - Dan Hsiao

That is a complete slot machine game in under 200 chars, because that was the input limit for a single line of text in the chat client I was using to test a friend's JS scriptable chat server. He included the little game when he released it to the public. - April Russo
JS Scriptable chat server, that sounds scary... - Bill Pennington

These are amusing. I like the variation of languages too. Keep the snippets coming! Let's get some more that you're secretly proud of, but shouldn't have left the beta ;p - xero

Jess - Please update your blog more with your drawings. :) And I would be lying if I didn't say I was jealous. My artistic ability = ZERO. LOL - Mona N.

As it appears Jim is once again the one facing the wrong way in a FF photo, does this make him the Judas of the FriendFeed Last Supper, and if so whom will he betray? - Steve Craft
Paul, That's awesome! That would be restaurant Chez Fox. - Rachel Lea Fox
“I think the worst thing about Ben going to California is that I always wake up when he leaves (at 4 am) and can never fall back asleep. Laying on the couch, trying to fight off sleep.”
Sorry for the bad lighting; if I'd opened the shades to get more light in, she would have gotten up to investigate, thus spoiling the moment. - Tudor Bosman
"McLagan [author of Fat] argues that fat is healthy, unrivaled for cooking, and satisfying, so you eat less of it. A week of testing left me convinced this was true, except for the "eating less of it" part...The book's four sections are dedicated to butter, lard or pork fat, poultry fat, and beef and lamb fat." - Jess Lee

Small portions, moderation, and eating well ftw! - Mona N.
Ok...I'll be honest here. I agree with the author of this book for this has applied to my life. I am very ill. Gave birth to a baby girl almost 2 years ago. At the time of her birth I contracted an extremely rare heart disorders that only mommies get. Now only 27 percent of my heart functions. The rest is blah. 50 percent of women die from this condition and my heart was bad enough where I was told I may only have 5 more years to live. Maybe 10 with a heart transplant and that is...if it took. They had to take extreme measures. What were they? Put me on a diet simial to the Atkins! I ate fat, meat, avocados, eggs and anything we are told we can't eat. It made my health better. My heart stronger and I may be around longer to watch my daughter grow! My grandfather a few months later was dying and also was told he had a few months to live. What did they do? You got it. Same diet. It made his cholest. go down and everything better. He lived a year which they didn't expect and thank the diet - Adriana
@Adriana: Wow, that's an amazing story. I'm really glad the diet is working for you! What is the heart disorder called? - Jess Lee
