Inspired by classic childhood books as well as modern superheroes, Jan von Holleben created a series of photographs that make nostalgic dreams come true. Jan brings the influences of his parents - a cinematographer and child therapist - to his work. His focus on the visual representation of childhood, ‘Child-History’ and concepts of ‘Playing’, come from his time spent on a teacher training course and he combines these theories with his personal experience and childhood memories. http://www.janvonholleben.com/ - Cee Bee
"Palin's words avoid repulsing voters with overt racism. But is there another subtext for creating the false image of a black presidential nominee "palling around" with terrorists while assuring a predominantly white audience that he doesn't see their America?
In a post-Sept. 11 America, terrorists are envisioned as dark-skinned radical Muslims, not the homegrown anarchists of Ayers' day 40 years ago. With Obama a relative unknown when he began his campaign, the Internet hummed with false e-mails about ties to radical Islam of a foreign-born candidate.
Whether intended or not by the McCain campaign, portraying Obama as "not like us" is another potential appeal to racism. It suggests that the Hawaiian-born Christian is, at heart, un-American.
Most troubling, however, is how allowing racism to creep into the discussion serves McCain's purpose so well. - Cee Bee

John McCain occasionally looks back on decisions with regret. He has apologized for opposing a holiday to honor Martin Luther King Jr. He has apologized for refusing to call for the removal of a Confederate flag from South Carolina's Capitol.
When the 2008 campaign is over McCain might regret appeals such as Palin's perhaps more so if he wins. - Cee Bee
"Seven aides to Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin have reversed course and agreed to testify in an investigation into whether the Republican vice presidential nominee abused her power by firing a commissioner who refused to dismiss her former brother-in-law. Palin says the legislative inquiry has become too political; she believes the state's personnel board should investigate the firing. Todd Palin has agreed to speak with investigators for that panel but not for the legislative inquiry.
The governor has the authority to fire members of the personnel board.
Alaska's Supreme Court is considering whether to block the findings of the legislative inquiry. The court scheduled arguments for Wednesday.
There is no indication, however, that Palin or her husband will testify in the legislative inquiry, which has dogged her for several months and could hurt John McCain in the final weeks of the presidential race." - Cee Bee

Energya, a three wheeled vehicle from Higgins-Aubé Inc looks really amazing with its distinctive design. The two passenger seats are side by side, designed just like a sports car, light and has high performance. Energya, also known as motomobile, it will be powered by a motorcycle engine having a six-speed sequential manual transmission. It will feature an aluminum frame with inboard front suspension using superposed unequal A-arms. As a future step, it is envisioned that the Energya motomobile will be offered as an electric vehicle. This will turn the electric-car stereotype on its head, as the same performance objectives will be maintained. -- http://www.tuvie.com/energya-s... - Cee Bee

"The 'Pop Art of Lollywood' - Pakistan's film industry - is as indigenous an art form as any yet it is clearly amongst the least known and appreciated of artwork from the Sub-Continent.
'Lollywood' - the Pakistan film industry based in the city of Lahore, reached its hey day in the mid 1970s when over a hundred Urdu and Punjabi films were being released annually. There were some 900 cinemas and 11 studios churning out films. But the advent of video and piracy brought about a virtual collapse of the industry. Today the number of cinemas has dropped to below 400 and the films released to between just 40 and 50 per year and the declining trend shows no sign of halting." - Cee Bee

"A complaint filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court alleges that a West Valley City truck driver for Frito-Lay Inc., faced discrimination after he complained about hauling Christmas trees, saying it made him uncomfortable because of his Jewish faith.
Richard Cleaveland, an employee of Frito-Lay for about 10 years, voiced his discomfort in December 2004 and was denied his religious accommodation request, according to the lawsuit. How hauling pine trees might be an affront to faith is less important than the retaliation that followed, said Cleaveland's Salt Lake City attorney, P. Corper James.
The complaint alleges that since making his request, Cleaveland has been subjected to insults and jokes and "forced to observe other Christmas traditions." It says he's been slapped with worse shifts, faced disciplinary notice he'd never received before, denied jobs he'd gotten in the past and has faced difficulty in securing wages." - Cee Bee

The last person I met that was really into trains was a really old dude, a co-worker -- and for Halloween he would come dressed to the office as a woman and he would lift up his skirt late at night and flash the whole creative department. Sorry, I just felt like sharing that. I am forever disturbed by it .. :\ - Brandon

heard the same stuff towards the end of Clinton's term. Our government has their head too far up their own ass to be fascist right now. Other problems to deal with. that, plus I have more faith in our military than that they'd allow martial law in the US - at the very least there'd be civil war if it was attempted - Emotion Tad
I was convinced that Clinton would declare himself emperor, but I think the military liked him. No one likes Bush so that's far less likely this go-round. - Lindsay Donaghe
i disagree tad, the slow, but steady deterioration of individual rights has place us in a precarious situation more than ever. it sure is a head start when you place about 4,000 troops to serve as your personal army. the confusion you speak of is all a smokescreen imo used by these people to instigate fear and enable people to fall in line. i'm not a conspiracy theorist by any means, but the evidence is right in front of our faces - Cee Bee
Similar evidence was there in 1999/2000 as well. And at the end of Reagan's term too. Declaring national Martial Law would be an invitation for China to invade. Silly nonsense. - Emotion Tad
