Tadbeer se... (Baazi) Hindi/Indian/old Bollywood song
Play

two things; 1. It is obvious to anyone who's had and lyrical training that the actress did not sing this piece in shot. This means it was prerecorded. Bollywood has a long standing tradition of using singers and actresses separately. 2. What happened to bollywood women? Her manner seems way more forward thinking than the simpering actresses of today. - Gina K
Gina: You are of course right in your point 1. All song picturizations in Hindi movies use lip-sync to an already recorded version, which again is almost always sung by another singer and not the actor. As for your question in #2, even though I don't think your observation is entirely true, you are spot on about Geeta Bali, the actress in the song. She was way ahead of her times. - Vinay | विनय

"The sales tax authorities levied a 10 per cent tax on bubble gum, treating it as an unclassified item. A dealer challenged the order contending that bubble gum was a confectionery and should be taxed at 6.25 per cent. The dealer won the case at the Tribunal and the High Court as well, arguing that bubble gum could be described as mithai in Hindi. He further contended that in a state where the official language was Hindi, in any dispute over the meanings of Hindi and English words, the one in Hindi should prevail. The Supreme Court, however, cited Wikipedia’s definition of bubble gum as a chewing gum designed for blowing bubbles with, holding that it was neither a confectionery nor a sweetmeat. Not true, Vinay. My gmail has periods in it, and I don't get the mail that is sent to that address without the periods. Gmail disregards +s - Stupid Blogger (aka Tina)

http://mail.google.com/support... "Gmail allows only one registration for any given username. Once you sign up for a particular username, any dot or capitalization variations are made permanently unavailable for new registration. If you created yourusername@gmail.com, no one can ever register your.username@gmail.com, or Your.user.name@gmail.com. Furthermore, because Gmail doesn't recognize dots as characters within usernames, adding or removing dots from a Gmail address won't change the actual destination address. Messages sent to yourusername@gmail.com, your.username@gmail.com, and y.o.u.r.u.s.e.r.n.a.m.e@gmail.com are all delivered to your inbox, and only yours. - Phil Glockner
So, that means that ab.ced is getting my email even though they have a different username and such? - Anika Malone
Theoretically, one you shouldn't have been able to have that address when you set it up. It looks like the account sign-up verification didn't work properly. - Jennifer Dittrich
Phil, clearly that's not happened. The other person emailed me: "who are you and what is up here?? I am ab. ced@gmail.com I get stuff for abced often". - Anika Malone
No, it means that there is no ab.ced@gmail.com if you registered abced@gmail.com. All mail to either of those addresses (or to a.b.c.e.d@ etc) goes to abced@gmail.com, It's all good. - Slippy Lane
Okay, but that person sent me the email (see above) and Gmail sent them the email confirmation that I'm now sending all my abced@gmail.com email to another gmail address. Clearly, Gmail allowed them to register my email address. I'm assuming that I had mine first since I've had it since the week Gmail rolled out. - Anika Malone

"The Small House Society is a voice for the Small House Movement. That movement includes movie stars who have downsized into 3000 square feet, families of five happy in an arts and crafts bungalow, multifamily housing in a variety of forms, and more extreme examples, such as people on houseboats and in trailers with just a few hundred square feet around them. Size is relative, and mainly we promote discussion about the ecological, economic and psychological toll that excessive housing takes on our lives, and what some of us are doing to live better. It’s not a movement about people claiming to be “tinier than thou” but rather people making their own choices toward simpler and smaller living however they feel best fits their life." - Vinay | विनय via Bookmarklet

“Grrrrr... opened my Windows Media Player this morning to an empty player with an empty library. I hate it when that happens. Now it's going to take me 24 hours or so to reimport all 100,000+ of my mp3s and I'll be without music.”
November 13 at 5:53 am - Link
I've been disappointed with WMP lately because it no longer saves my ratings when I make them even though I have my settings set to write the ratings to the files and it won't recognize discs when I try to rip them. It seems like I have to delete and reimport my entire library (hours) any time I want to do anything with the software. I wish that there were better software for managing a large mp3 library. iTunes sucks just as badly. - Thomas Hawk
Does iTunes not work for you? - Frank Jonen
@Frank: Don't get him started on iTunes :) - Holger Eilhard
No, iTunes sucks just as badly for me -- although I'm trying it again right now to see if it works better as I haven't tried it in months. The problem with iTunes is that it too chokes on my large mp3 library. It seems to consistently hang on "analyzing gapless playback" and "getting album art" even when I tell iTunes I don't want album art or gapless playback. Annoying. Why can't any music player handle large media libraries? People's libraries are only getting larger and larger. - Thomas Hawk
I've been using WinAmp quite a bit lately (since my media is all FLAC files for local PC playback). I'm pretty pleased with it. - Chris Maughan
also anyone know of any sort of app that you can point to a folder and say scour this folder for any WMA files and automatically convert them to mp3 files and replace the WMA. I've got thousands of old wma files that also annoy the hell out of me. - Thomas Hawk
Whenever I look over my wife's shoulder, I can see that the iTunes experience on Windows isn't what it should be. I'm quite happy to use it my Mac, but I'm pretty sure I'd hate it on Windows. - Paul Grav
Paul, I've had just as much trouble with it on my MacBook Pro. Does anyone know if Winamp can handle large 100,000+ mp3 libraries? Can you rate songs with Winamp and have them written to the file so that other applications can read and import those ratings? - Thomas Hawk
One day a company will actually drop an app or op system that actually works and delivers what it is supposed to do with actual stability. On that day, the collective thud you will hear is all of the tech types hitting the ground waiting for the end of the world, as that would surely be a sign. - Eban Crawford
@Thomas Hawk one word: MediaMonkey. Best musicplayer ever. http://www.mediamonkey.com/ - marcel weiss
It's a pity Songbird doesn't support ripping yet... - Andy Davies
MediaMonkey huh? I'll have to check that out. - Thomas Hawk
Mediamonkey looks pretty cool, whats the memory footprint like? I tried Songbird out, it's true to it's firefox relative... memory hog - I wish Amarok would get to windows already. I just want a multi-platform compatible player.. preferably with an external db that could be shared between OSes. - Tim Hoeck
I don't use WMP anymore, Zune player is all I need - Shey
you really should Thomas. Songbird with its support for firefox-like extensions is going to kick even Mediamonkeys ass some time in the future but songbird is just not there yet, it's still way to buggy. Mediamonkey is the best musikplayer in the field right now by a far distance, hands down. I never looked back. :) - marcel weiss
I haven't used WMP in ages. I stick with Winamp and Foobar. - Mike L
Amarok on Linux is pretty good. - Paul Grav
When I'm in Windows, it's mostly Winamp. I used to prefer musikCube for the library management, but it's development has been languishing a bit. And I'm not a fan of iTunes. - abacab
Another vote for MediaMonkey. - Vinay | विनय
I toss a vote to MediaMonkey. Though, I've been using TeenSpirit lately. There are so many options out there. Like Miro or JetAudio.... - Dr. Apps via twhirl
For troubled times like these ... I resort to rhapsody. ;) - Brandon
Thomas: on a windows machine check out Music Express at: http://wizetech.com. I use that in conjunction with Winamp. It's $29.99 for a license but I think money well spent. - Ian May
Thomas: I know you have some Drobos floating around, but don't know if you have a DroboShare. There's a DroboApp which runs on the DS and gives you access to the music files on it via iTunes... - Holger Eilhard
Same problem here! Lost all my ratings! :-( I used Ratings to sync mp3s with my phone so I could make a random selection of best rated songs. Big part of songs are high rated songs and a small selection of unrated songs to rate on my phone. - Daan

I have maybe 4 or 5 servings of alcohol a year, usually beer or wine. I don't like the taste of liquor. I've been drunk exactly three times in my life, and it wasn't something I really relished. So... just not a big thing for me. - Ladybug Heather
I'm basicly like Heather... If I drink 6 times a year it's a lot... - Sean Reiser

I never have more than a sip though because pretty much it all tastes nasty to me. Not looking to find "my drink." I just like to see wht the fuss is about. - pea♥ fierce as a woozle

I drink so I'm not teetotal. However, I have friends that are teetotal, and so if we visit them for dinner, they never offer alcohol. It's not a problem. I take a keg with me. No seriously, I can take it or leave it. - Ian May

I failed somehow to get the gene that appreciates alcohol -- I can think of thousands of experiences that are more pleasurable and euphoria-producing. - Sean McBride
I'm so not a drinker that I don't even know what that means. Silliness is my poison. Oh, and Diet Coke. - Josh Haley
If you're a teetotaller or rare-drink are you uncomfortable when out at a bar with heavy drinkers, do they *make* you feel uncomfortable? Do you socialise with big drinkers? If your friends or work mates are drinkers do they respect you for being a teetotaller or rare drinker? Or take the mick? - Kol Tregaskes
I do feel a slight bit of uncomfortableness when I'm around very heavy drinkers. Not silly ones but the ones that drink so much so often that if you say something they may not like, they chop your head off!!! It's like I'm afraid to talk for fear of mean confrontation..and that's not good, so I don't put myself in that situation. - Sheryl
I go on a wine binge around Christmas - maybe three glasses? Is that a semi-teetotaller? - jlt
I'm a soda teetotaller. I cannot stand the stuff. Regular is too sweet, diet leaves a nasty taste, and it's all way too carbonated for me. Anyway, I think a beer or two is probably less harmful, then the chemical concoction that is soda! - Ian May
