"@AaronStrout, I'm going to have to get used to that now. But seriously, I support your "name change" and actually, given the strength that Twitter has in google search, I think it's very smart. Due to the name change and your frequent tweets, AaronStrout will be moving up the google SERPs!" - warren sukernek
"Matt, you have some new and unique ideas that haven't been discussed before. One variation that I would add to your headliners would be to sell a branded site similar to election.twitter.com for a big brand or event. For example, how much traction would you the NFL get out of Superbowl.twitter.com?" - warren sukernek
"@tojosan,
Excellent advice. I can't tell you how many newcomers voice their Twitter frustrations to me because they hadn't taken the steps that you described. This will definitely help them." - warren sukernek

"Ken, this is really comprehensive in addressing the advanced facets of Twitter search. I think people will find it very helpful. I would add just a couple of other ways that I use advanced search:
- Each of the search elements you described can be combined. So as an example, a restaurant could find all tweets for fish with positive attitude within 15 miles of its location.
- You can really filter broad topics by adding other keywords in the words section ie. Obama and Biden.
- Although sentiment analysis is rather limited, you can use it as a comparison to gauge popularity within a category, for example how many positive tweets for Black Hawks compared to Red Wings.
And although it is somewhat off topic, I like to use http://twist.flaptor.com to graph Twitter searches." - warren sukernek
"Joel, I couldn’t agree more with your last paragraph: “who cares about getting a shorty award”, Twittergrade, Top people to follow, or any of the self-absorbed “authority-based” ratings and tools. Just a waste of time and a bunch of noise, if you ask me.
Onward and upward - Happy New Year!" - warren sukernek
"The parallels between Palm and Twitter are eerily similar, both in your post and in the brand loyalty that people are leaving in the comments. Hopefully, Twitter can learn from the Palm lesson.
Thanks for the insight.

"Rick, Great concept–having the NHL honor its traditions and the roots of the sport. Staying on that theme and keeping the games in the cities of the original 6 franchises would be a great idea. I love how you’ve identified the unique hooks for the casual fan which should help expand the NHL’s reach. And naturally, by focusing on a big event on a quiet day, the TV interest should be quite high.
I think there is also an opportunity for the NHL to expand its reach utilizing social media: How about creating widgets like the winter classic countdown on the site for fans to put on their pages? Blog badges? A Facebook app and supporting fan page? CGM video contest on why the Winter Classic is special? Players or coaches blogs focused on the event? Also on Twitter? Perhaps a podcasting contest to allow a fan to call a few minutes of the game on TV?" - warren sukernek

"It's great to see the background story behind Whole Foods adoption of Twitter that identifies the company's goals, individuals behind the logo, and how Twitter is making a difference. I'd recommend using the content as a Twitter landing page for Whole Foods. I also agree with Marla in that I have a relationship with the company and am perfectly content to interact with someone from the company on Twitter rather than a specific person. Perhaps my perception has to do with the value of the transactions that I make with a store distant from HQ. I just don't feel that a specific relationship with Marla at corporate will impact my feelings about my local store." - warren sukernek
"Jason, A big WOW! I am truly humbled. Thank you so much, Not only for these great gifts that will definitely aid my job search, but for being recognized by an expert like yourself. And of course, I hope you are right on your prediction. I will do my best to make it true!
Thanks again,
Warren" - warren sukernek

"I like the way you guys picked up the ball and ran with it, since we were trying hard to play stump the band. Each one of the topics/lifestyle interests that you described would be very compelling to its target audience. Nice work!" - warren sukernek
"Michael,
Very provocative post and I agree with you, authority is such a subjective thing. To think that one has more authority because he is more popular or has more followers is just bunk. Just because you have a lot of followers doesn’t mean that you are trusted." - warren sukernek
Absolutely!, thanks for sharing your thoughts here. - warren sukernek
You are both right. What are your goals for Twitter in the end? Money, or find content? It all depends on your end goals. - Jesse Stay
Jesse: my salary has not gone up because of my followers. This is a bullshit argument unless you give me some money in reward for having more followers than Loic. - Robert Scoble
Robert it has nothing to do with your salary - it has to do with users, traffic, and sponsorship. I'm talking about the business owner, not the employee. - Jesse Stay
Let's also add to that that now that I have 4,000 followers, vs. 500 or so a year ago, I can now ask a question to my followership, and almost every time I get an answer. The response is amazing, and extremely valuable to me. I get information much faster this way, and it's not because I follow them, but because they follow me. - Jesse Stay
Jesse: are you getting paid by follower? I haven't found a gig like that yet. - Robert Scoble
Jesse: ask not what your followers can do for you but ask what can you do for your followers. - Robert Scoble
Robert, I can now launch a feature, and get an immediate response from those followers. That eventually converts into money, so indirectly, yes, I am getting paid by follower. My followers are very valuable to me, as they are to Loic and Arrington. At the same time, as a blogger, finding good content is also valuable to me. Are you getting paid by the people you follow Robert? I imagine the answer is the same as mine - yes, indirectly. - Jesse Stay
Numbers talk will be rendered absolutely moot by the time real celebrities hop on Twitter. Are we going to be ranking authority by followers then? When Angelina Jolie comments on Yahoo or something, will you want that to be more authoritative than Mike Arrington or Scoble? Give me a break. You're creating the solution to a problem that doesn't exist. Solve a REAL problem in the world. - Shawn Farner
Shawn, you bet numbers will still be valuable then. Just as their traffic trumps mine on my blog currently, my traffic is still valuable. The same goes with followers. I don't care who trumps mine - my followers are still very valuable to me. I'm not saying Loic's solution to search is the only answer (it should be one of many filters added to search). I'm just saying followers are still very valuable, as are those you follow, all depending on your end goals. - Jesse Stay
Jesse: according to you I am much more authoritative on this topic than you are. Do you see why you are wrong yet? - Robert Scoble
At the same time, (as I just said on Twitter), I met Scoble, Guy Kawasaki, Pirillo, and many others because I followed them (before they followed me). That was the premise to starting SocialToo.com. Both who you follow, *and* who follows you are just as valuable. - Jesse Stay
It sounds like there is agreement here: The numbers are a silly statistic, the connections have value. - Rob Michael
Robert, there's a difference between authority and value - I'm not arguing authority here. I'm arguing value here. And yes, you're more valuable than I am, and probably smarter than I on many subjects - I'm simply arguing both are just as valuable, based on my personal experience. - Jesse Stay
I got on Twitter to share what's going on in my world, to connect with cool people and learn what's going on in their worlds. "What are you doing?", remember? Of course, we all repurposed Twitter to fit different needs, one being self promotion. And now we're talking about who has more authority? If Twitter hits the mainstream and goes big, you're all going to end up in the minority, killing the spirit of the service while everyone else has a good time. - Shawn Farner
Sigh, I'm falling for Arrington's ploy - I'm writing a blog post about my thoughts right now. :-) - Jesse Stay
People need to listen. After all I talk about it on my blog post. We will have more bots on twitter and less information. This was a stupid idea and needs to be buried!! - Paul
Robert! You wrote a book with him! Or did you put his name on the book cover because you owed him one or what? ;) - Michael Forian
Michael: that was four years ago. Things change. People buy into the hype of Twitter -- that becoming a celebrity there will let them make more money, sell more stuff, get more cool experiences, etc. I've been pretty clear about this and most of the thought leaders aren't listening. - Robert Scoble
I'm just so bored with this following/follower bs but obviously I've time in my hand today to comment. :-) Loic's claim about Sprint responding to him ONLY is ABSOLUTE BS. I've an anonymous blog where I mainly vent about anything and everything including services from Comcast, Sprint, etc. I get an instant response from both Sprint and Comcast whenever I do that. Companies respond to criticism irrespective of who is making them. That's the bottom line, not how many followers you have on Twitter. - Moushumi Kabir

"I know what you mean about being the Xmas Jew, always a little awkward for not knowing the traditions, observing and participating, but not really getting it. One difference between the Xmas Jew and Shabbos Goy, is that we don’t really get a special job that everyone depends on." - warren sukernek
"Ken, I agree, Tweetdeck is a must for any serious Twitter user, regardless of the number of followers that one has. Great job explaining all of the details which can get overwhelming for the first time user. And very creative use of the search features. Thanks." - warren sukernek
