Being a republican isn't a step back! Geez guys can't you respect some ones opinion differing from yours? Also I've been into tech all my life but I'm a republican does that mean I dumb, stupid, or whatever else you may care to call me? No I'm none of those things I just care about this country just as much as you but I don't believe voting for Obama is the right path for this country. Also I always hear Dems in congress saying Republicans need to be more accepting of the Dems views well why can't you accept that people like Cali decide they like Palin? for me, sarah has a questionable character since there are too many corrupt or simply wrong choices she has made. under investigation for the sacking of someone, campaigning for polar bears to be taken off the endangered species list cause they're getting in the way of oil drilling in alaska. not ripping on cali, just giving my opinion as to why I wouldn't support palin. Being from the UK and living though the Thatcher years, I have no problem with women in power - Maggie was wildly unpopular for impoverishing the majority of the North of the UK by destroying their industries, selling off public services etc, though I fully understand why she did some things such as breaking the unions and industries. I criticise politicians regardless of gender! Choosing her so quickly is an insult to women who have struggled to be considered equals to male politicians and who have accumulated a lifetime of hard won experience. @Julio, I was watching ABC TV here in the SF Bay Area and the news commentator clearly said that the speech was written for her, with some input. You are very correct about the debates, this is where we will see who has intimate knowledge of key issues and who can think on their feet. So far we have only seen how well each candidate can deliver a prepared speech. Clearly all four candidates are very well spoken. - Jeff P. Henderson

@Julio, I think what I really meant in my earlier post was that it is unclear to me that the speech that Sarah delivered were her own words or the words of the party and their speech writers. I can't say I really know what she stands for and if she can think on her feet until I see her put on the spot in an unscripted environment. - Jeff P. Henderson

@Kody, I watched both Obama's and Palin's speeches live, uncut on network TV. In his speech, Obama outlined what his goals were for fixing Taxes, Stimulating the Economy, Growing domestic jobs, Energy Independence, Development of alternative energy sources with specific goals, Global Warming, Education, Heath Care and Insurance, His stance on the middle east, Iraq, Iran, His stance on the Russia/Georgia issue. At this point it seems that she was picked in hopes of picking up voters disenfranchised that HRC isn't on the democratic ticket.
