I say it was just a popularity contest. When TinyURL is what's integrated into Twitter Clients, it's a done deal. However, TinyURL still doesn't offer the functionality that Bit.ly and Cli.gs do. - WazNeeni

I'm also testing the FriendFeed comments plugin for the first time on this post, but no one is commenting here! lol. We'll see if this one shows up... - Veronica
Thanks, VB. You've convinced me to give it another shot. I shall be backing up my OPML first, of course. - WazNeeni

Commented on the blog ... Not seeing the FF plug-in (at the moment using Chrome) ?? ... more ... Double-checked - Not there. I had the same problem with another blog until the second post. - Charlie Anzman
Thanks, Edwin. And after installation, my head exploded from the sheer mass of information I was looking at. I'll try again once I catch up on all my feeds, but I shall be avoiding the Twitter, FriendFeed, and FF Bookmark import options. It was just way too much. On an AWESOME note...Uninstall went flawlessly. Feedly extracted all changes to GReader perfectly. - WazNeeni
wazneeni: we are trying to better address overload in beta 2. It is not any easy nut to crack. - Edwin Khodabakchian
Edwin, no worries. I think my problem is simply the fact that I have over 5000 unread articles, and I've simply joined too many SocNets. So, Feedly seems to have worked flawlessly. I just couldn't handle the enormity that is my social network. - WazNeeni
I really like the integration with Google Reader and how it pulls in my feeds. I just wish that it wasn't a two step process to have an article I want to share show up on my Google Feed widget on my blog. So far the only way I can find to have it do that is click the "save for later" link. Then I have to go to Google Reader, go to my "starred items" then click on the "share" link to have it appear on my blog. **Update** Just figured out if I use the "recommend" link on Feedly that is the same as the "share" - David
Even though I have subscribed to some RSS feeds in Google Reader, I still prefer to go visit the web sites directly. Maybe because I feel like I'm missing something if I don't visit the web site. - Sylvain Nadeau
Wow, this is great! Thanks for posting about feedly, didn't know em before. But I love it straight away, now its fun going through your "GReader"-Items again :-) - natadd
That's tough news. I hope for the best for your aunt and your family. - Eric @ CS Techcast
My grandfather had Parkinson's. Only good thing about it was that his case was quite manageable. Growing up, I never had any clue how bad it could get. Anyway, my grandfather lived happily into his 90's, so I'm hoping your aunt is as blessed. - WazNeeni
I really can't believe that someone as involved in new media as you can't tell how much of a step backward a Republican vote is during this election. I'm sorry Cali, but I'm really reconsidering my respect for you. - Chris Menning
Oh God Cali, you're smarter than that...aren't you? - David Jacobs
via twhirl
Cali is VERY smart, as is the reason for her comment. - WazNeeni
via twhirl
@Chris Menning Wow, man...harsh. Why would you not respect Cali after her comment? She's still the same person she was before she said it. - WazNeeni
via twhirl
Being a republican isn't a step back! Geez guys can't you respect some ones opinion differing from yours? Also I've been into tech all my life but I'm a republican does that mean I dumb, stupid, or whatever else you may care to call me? No I'm none of those things I just care about this country just as much as you but I don't believe voting for Obama is the right path for this country. Also I always hear Dems in congress saying Republicans need to be more accepting of the Dems views well why can't you accept that people like Cali decide they like Palin? I have no problem with you liking Obama, or you choosing to be Pro-choice but don't jump all over us for being anti abortion or for liking Palin. Grow up will you!! - Colide81 (James)
There's nothing wrong with being a Sarah girl. Keeping it online for the rest of the country is! Palin is analog & dial up;) - Roney Smith
The republican party is viewed as the evil party, here in england. - Mark
look at all the rednecks in the audience waving their "real american" signs at the convention speeches. man its so embarrasing - Mark
@Mark I'm not a redneck and I'm a republican and i know a lot of people who are not even the least bit redneck who might have been in the audience. So come on is that really necessary to rip the Republicans like that. Please stop being rude. - Colide81 (James)
@Mark also why call people names aren't you above that? - Colide81 (James)
Thank you. I just feel we can all be civil. I have to admit I have been in the heat of a debate wanted to yell at someone because I get so angry or call a person names but it doesn't serve your side that you are on to do that. Mark you are forgiven. :) - Colide81 (James)
for me, sarah has a questionable character since there are too many corrupt or simply wrong choices she has made. under investigation for the sacking of someone, campaigning for polar bears to be taken off the endangered species list cause they're getting in the way of oil drilling in alaska. She looks like a corporate shill that is there not to serve people and prefers to fill corporate pockets with tax money! - alphaxion
Don't you guys have better things to do than rip on Cali for stating her opinion? Hurricane Gustoff just tore through Louisiana and the government did a fairly good job of taking care of the people there. Where are you with all the praise for the government during Gustoff as you were with vitriol during Katrina? - Richard
Palin is a powerful woman. That scares a lot of white men. I vehemently disagree with Palin on abortion and gay marriage. But it is time for women in power. (Not just the ones I agree with either.) - Out Wrong
not ripping on cali, just giving my opinion as to why I wouldn't support palin. Being from the UK and living though the Thatcher years, I have no problem with women in power - Maggie was wildly unpopular for impoverishing the majority of the North of the UK by destroying their industries, selling off public services etc, though I fully understand why she did some things such as breaking the unions and industries. I criticise politicians regardless of gender! And I refuse to give them the benefit of the doubt the one time they do something right compared to the countless times they commit crimes, perpetuate corruption and destroy your freedoms and rights. - alphaxion
Cali, I commend you for posting that knowing that your audience is vastly liberal in nature. - Mike L
Wow, really?? She was chosen hastily for shallow reasons: She's a woman and she's a Conservative Christian. Choosing her so quickly is an insult to women who have struggled to be considered equals to male politicians and who have accumulated a lifetime of hard won experience. Kay Bailey Hutchinson was an infinitely better choice but McCain is desperate. Palin wants to legislate her morality upon those who don't share her views. Conservative Christians should be insulted that they were so pandered to.. - Kevin Leroux
Many Liberals believe that all Repub. are ignorant white male rednecks. When an intelligent woman (like Cali or Sarah) is a Repub. it shatters their world view and they lash out with venom. - Robert Hafer
"Mega Dittos" to Colide81, Richard, Out Wrong, Mike Lewis, Robert Hafer and, of course, Cali (except for the fact that I'm a guy). Over the past few years (I'm now 34), I've finally learned that someone's political views does not define them as a person. It's their actions that are the true mark of their character. There are a number of people whom I know are on the left politically that I, being on the right, respect immensely. A perfect exam...*$%^&*...Ran out of room. @RobertHafer: Its about all the feckless can muster. - eggsy
I would not call Obama's convention speech a "home run" the way he made himself look like Emperor with that giant Romanesque set. And where is his bump in the polls? The numbers look the same as they did before Denver. But yeah, I guess the twitter population really isn't any indication of how well Sarah Palin performed in her convention speech. - pitlord

@Drew. Biden didn't, and I really wonder if McCain will tomorrow night... - Andrew Leyden
using twitter to judge "America" is probably not a wise sampling... - Jeremy Toeman
Not a difficult task to hit a homer when you're playing an exhibition game on your home field with all your adoring fans cheering you on. - Larry Kless
I love how she named some countries. That was very impressive! - PC Easy
via twhirl
Like her or hate her, she pulled this off. She has good time, obvious passion and became very comfortable as it went on. I don't know how McCain will do but Biden certainly came as close to flopping as you can on the home field. - Soulhuntre
Yea, naming some countries was cool. I want to see Obama name all 57 states!! Go ahead Obama. - Raymond Phillips
Yeah Raymond, I am just glad that whole Alaskan Independence Party didn't work out for her. Otherwise, she wouldn't be able to be vice president. - PC Easy
via twhirl
"Palin hit a major home run"? Were we watching the same speech? I thought it was very well delivered, but not her own words, it was written for her. I also heard very little discussion of how the Repubs will solve many of the issues that plague the country. She did talk about energy but with no real details. What about the economy, health care, education? - Jeff P. Henderson
They've really locked down Alaska's 3 electoral votes now! - Indio Apache

I'm giving props to Palin. And Giuliani did a masterful job as well. - Hutch Carpenter
Jeff, that's why I feel like the conventions are a waste of time. No one watches except for those members of that same party who have already decided who to vote for. Pointless grandstanding; preaching to the choir; etc... - WazNeeni
via twhirl
Jeff P "not her own words, it was written for her" What % of speakers at either convention do you feel write their own speeches? I'll say is less that 25%. That is why the debates will be so important for those that have not made up their mind yet... then it is up to who has the best political machine and in 2000 and 2004, it was the Republicans. - Julio F ~ @SocialJulio
@Julio, I was watching ABC TV here in the SF Bay Area and the news commentator clearly said that the speech was written for her, with some input. You are very correct about the debates, this is where we will see who has intimate knowledge of key issues and who can think on their feet. So far we have only seen how well each candidate can deliver a prepared speech. Clearly all four candidates are very well spoken. - Jeff P. Henderson
@Julio, I think what I really meant in my earlier post was that it is unclear to me that the speech that Sarah delivered were her own words or the words of the party and their speech writers. I can't say I really know what she stands for and if she can think on her feet until I see her put on the spot in an unscripted environment. - Jeff P. Henderson
Jeff P: Have you heard a single resolution from Obama? Any mention on how he is going to 'change' America? We already know he hasn't actually done anything in his career, except fall in with machine politics. Hmm.. I wonder if we didn't hear the same speech, too. I watched it live and uncut on the RNC website. You didn't watch it on MSNBC or CNN, did you!? - Kody Brown
Hmmm...a well-spoken president? That's something I can't wait to get back to. This coming from a conservative Rep. who proudly voted for Dubya twice. I don't think he's dumb or anything, but c'mon. - WazNeeni
via twhirl
The one that hurts the most is the failed attempt at the "Fool me once..." addage. I cringe every time I hear it. - WazNeeni
via twhirl
@Kody, I watched both Obama's and Palin's speeches live, uncut on network TV. In his speech, Obama outlined what his goals were for fixing Taxes, Stimulating the Economy, Growing domestic jobs, Energy Independence, Development of alternative energy sources with specific goals, Global Warming, Education, Heath Care and Insurance, His stance on the middle east, Iraq, Iran, His stance on the Russia/Georgia issue. I probably missed a few issues. - Jeff P. Henderson
Before tonight, all most knew of Palin was that she was once a mayor of a small town, governor of Alaska and had a longtime husband and a couple of kids. The only thing we learned that was new tonight was she hates Obama. This was like a stranger walking into a house and criticizing the furniture. Your first reaction is, "Who the heck are you?" - Chris Reed
sarcastic, petty, unimpressive. Palin makes me love Hillary and I used top hate her. - David Jacobs
WazNeeni - agree that conventions are a waste of time. The Palin speech was the only part of ANY of the conventions (there are more than two political party conventions) that I bothered to watch, or will bother to watch. - Ontario Emperor
via fftogo
The one unbiased source I saw (Los Angeles TV station KTLA) gave Palin positive marks. - Ontario Emperor
via fftogo
Were we watching the same speech? Cuz I saw a nutjob hockey mom try to run from her record. - Bill Sodeman
Ok enough with the great speech. Let's get down to business. She has not foreign policy experience. She has no real economic experience. This selection for VP is such a joke. SHe has been off this continent 1 time. Stop this madness. - PC Easy
via twhirl
<celebrity> Sarah Palin </celebrity>, But McCain & GOP prefer to ignore their failed code. No 12 step program for hypocrites! - Roney Smith
At this point it seems that she was picked in hopes of picking up voters disenfranchised that HRC isn't on the democratic ticket. Aside from their gender Sarah and HRC are no where close to each other. The important thing about her speech last night is the Republicans like her, now let's see if America can like her once all of her dirty laundry is out in the open. - Bryan
One thing is for certain... she can adequately read off a teleprompter. Kudos! - Rob Reed
Rob, except for that "Hockey Moms" joke - she seemed to improvise well too - Jesse Stay
via twhirl
Actually, have to give her an A for effort on her teleprompter skills, which have improved immensely from her sports anchor days (see the youtube videos) - Chris Reed
