Woohoo! My iPhone just went into Safe Mode for the first time! I think I went a little crazy. Ah, well, it's a learning experience, and I have no motorcycle to ride on this lovely day, so let's see if I can fix what I broke, or if I'll be reloading this puppy again. - MiɳiMagɘ (AlwaysMiniMage)

The camel spider stories began to spread during the 1990-91 Gulf War. Now, with the continued presence of U.S. forces in the Middle East, the stories are becoming legendary .. Many of the stories on the internet are completely untrue. These creatures are (usually) not dangerous to humans. But, dangerous or not, these creatures are horrifying to encounter. I pity anyone who encounters one for the first time. They actually aren't spiders at all, they're solpugids.. Along with spiders, they are members of the class Arachnida. - Cee Bee

HP Mini 1000 netbook confirmed
October 27 at 10:27 pm - via Bookmarklet - Link
"The sequel to HP’s Mini-Note 2133 netbook has shown up on the company’s online store. Called the HP Mini 1000, the netbook measures less than 1-inch thick and weighs from 2.25lbs; it also has a new, black casing and appears to be intended as a more entry-level machine than the 2133. The new price certainly bears that out: the HP Mini 1000 netbook costs from just $399. Other specifications for the Mini 1000 are unknown, with the primary point of interest being its CPU. HP went with VIA’s C7-M processor for the Mini-Note 2133, a choice which pretty much singled it out among other netbooks; there are contrasting rumors now as to whether the HP Mini 1000 will instead use Intel’s 1.6GHz Atom processor or stick with VIAand adopt the new Nano chipset. It’s also believed to have a 10-inch screen. HP confirmed back in Julythat they were working on a new netbook with a lower purchase price than the 2133. Their first netbook, though relatively well received in reviews, was criticised for its cost compared to ASU - Cee Bee via Bookmarklet

It's too bad, I just went to check it out, and just like everything else that's too good to be true, as soon as you start adding on the basic upgrades you are well over 500$ and even higher if you want this thing to work for you. The base model alone is 399$, but that's with only 512MB Memory, 8.9" display, and and 8GB HDD :-( - cmiper

PC World - Dell Introduces Affordable Inspiron Mini 12
October 26 at 7:18 pm - via Bookmarklet - Link
"Japan retailers get the jump on the U.S. market today as they get to sell Dell's new laptot, the Inspiron Mini 12, before anyone here in the U.S. even gets to lay eyes upon it. While built-to-order models will be available in the states by mid-November, three retail chains in Japan (Bic Camera, Kujima and Sofmap) get the first crack at selling pre-configured versions of Dell's 12.1-inch take on the mini-note space. ... So what does this tech tidbit cost you? Between $500 and $600, depending on a couple configuration options. Yep, the Mini 12 teeters on the top-end of the netbook spectrum and, as a result, poses a very interesting question (well, to me, at least): When does a notebook officially start becoming a notebook? Hopefully, we'll have more of an answer for you before the Inspiron Mini 12 launches late-November." - RAPatton via Bookmarklet

and that is who i might buy it for. Some sort of netbook at least. - RAPatton
Suggested to a friend to buy the other Inspiron and he bought it the day after, I was really impressed by the line of product. I'm looking to replace my PocketPC, this is definitively something that could replace it ;p Would too prefer XP and an SSD just for making the storage category updated a bit. - Zu aka ElijahBailey

Amex Blu-ray Multi Drive Does It All In Style
October 17 at 7:23 pm - via Reshare - Link
""We're having a feeling this glossy black look is going to drive us crazy. So we have two options; either embrace it or refuse to purchase technology for the next few years. Since the latter is near impossible, we'll just have to take a look at this USB-powered Blu-ray drive from Amex. Not only does it play Blu-ray movies, but you can burn single and dual-layered Blu-ray discs as well. Note the USB-powered detail - only one wire, no mess The Amex Blu-ray Multi Drive is available in black and white glossy finishes. For the extremely picky, there's a little bit of silver in there too so you can match it with your new Macbook Pro just fine. Expect it to hit stores next month for $289.!"" - Cee Bee
this is a pretty good price when you think about it and it looks great - Cee Bee
Nice! Will Mac OS X support all the features, though? - Dread Pirate PJ
Man this looks cool. Definitely worth a look given the massive 50Gb capacity of BluRay discs. Also if you don't have a PS3 will this work as a BluRay 'player'? Will it work with Apple's DVD player? - Parvez Halim
this will work as a blu-ray player, yes, though i'm unsure over the extent of features like scanning, indexing, menu features, etc.. and it is compatible with macs as far as i know. i would imagine programs with blue ray authoring/copying additions such as toast would work well with this. as far as working with apple's dvd player, if you mean copying from one to the other, probably not. - Cee Bee
Looks cool. It almost look like something Apple would had made - Outsanity

"The Silence of the Lambs is a 1991 suspense film directed by Jonathan Demme and starring Jodie Foster, Anthony Hopkins, Scott Glenn, Anthony Heald and Ted Levine. It is based on the novel of the same name by Thomas Harris, his second to feature Dr. Hannibal Lecter, brilliant psychiatrist and cannibalistic serial killer. In the film, Clarice Starling, a young FBI trainee, seeks the advice of the imprisoned Lecter on catching a serial killer known only as "Buffalo Bill". I think this is were the Internet falls short. Most people would not act this way if they meeting together in person. I have seen debates work well on the Internet when the participants knew each other offline before the debate though. There is just too much anonymity on the 'net that allows people without respect for their fellow man to pour out their hatred without consequence. - Ed Grant via fftogo
Because a name makes things have consequences, Ed? It has nothing to do with identity, it's all about respect and educations. You can be a famous, well-known jerk, or OTOH you can also be a generous, a very very highly good anonymous man. Dontcha think? :) - directeur
