“Firefox runs like absolute buggy bullcrap on Linux. Maybe I'm being hasty and it's Firebug. I'll have to test that out.”

What? I never have problems with Firefox on Linux. I'm not running Firebug now, but I used to. - Bruce Lewis
Runs like a champ on my box, which is relatively old. Athlon 64 3000+ with 2GB RAM. - Jason Huebel
Oh...yeah....that's ancient compared to my compaq with 512mb RAM....LOL! I wasn't even running Firebug...it just wigs out on me on ocassion and I have to kill it. It starts lagging my whole session. - ♫ Rahsheen ™ ★
I'm running Ubuntu64 8.10 w/64-bit Flash with no crashes so far. I had more FF crashes with Ubuntu 8.0.4. Note that the more FF plugins you install, the higher the chance of encountering lockups and crashes. Mine was mostly due to the Flash plugin. - imabonehead
What you can do is backup your .mozilla directory and restart Firefox with a fresh .mozilla. Once you find that stable, copy over one plugin at a time from your backed-up .mozilla into your new .mozilla, restart FF, rince & repeat. - imabonehead
:-/ Sorry Rah, I guess I have kept ahead of the curve a bit. This is my Gentoo/amd64 development box from when I was Lead Developer in 2004. :-D - Jason Huebel
I only have Gears, Flashblock, Greasemonkey and FireFTP. I'm guessing it's something to do with FireFTP. If not that, it's a problem with Firefox itself and I'm screwed...LOL - ♫ Rahsheen ™ ★
When I first glanced at this, I thought you said it ran like "bugcrap" and I was like, hey, Rahsheen made up a cool new word for buggy, crappy software! I think I'll start using it. (Not that Firefox IS buggy, crappy software - *hugs Firefox*). I used to have issues with FireFTP, actually, so you might try it without that. - Jandy Stone
I've never had a real problem with FF on (Ubuntu or Debian) Linux. Works as advertised for me! - wyclif
